I was looking for ways to help my kid's school. YouCaring had the lowest fees of any of the crowdfunding site and has been easy to work with. I will definitely use YouCaring again!
I’ve been a Hare Krishna monk in rural West Virginia since I was 22 years old, and I'm now 66. So when the specialists at West Virginia School of Dentistry told me that it would cost $15,000 to prevent irreversible damage to my teeth, gums, and jaw bone, I thought on one level that it was impossible and that I should just resign myself to my fate. On another level, I have been observing lately how the Good Lord touches the hearts of kind souls, directing and inspiring them with the spirit of charity.
But what happened next was something I couldn’t have imagined. Different people started coming forward with the intention to assist me in raising the funds. They asked my permission to start a page on YouCaring.com.
Living a simple monastic life in the Appalachian foothills, I generally don’t have phone service let alone internet. I failed typing class in junior high school and have never been successful with computers. In fact, someone is typing this testimonial for me as I speak because it’s the only way I know of to accomplish such a thing.
So the concept of online fundraising is completely foreign to me. And yet everyone else was convinced that YouCaring was the way to go because of its low cost and ease of use. Obviously they were right because we’ve raised the money needed for my health care.
I'm still in awe at how family, friends, and acquaintances from across the country and the world have been informed about my need, and have become united and integrated into a support team. This has transformed a time of challenge into an amazing journey of faith, encouragement, and inspiration. This outpouring of goodwill indicates that this team is more than a fundraising group. It is a veritable Godsend, an assemblage of prayer companions.
It has been a wonderful and inspiring experience of hope, compassion, kindness, and teamwork. Thank you very much to everyone at YouCaring who made this possible through your goodwill and creative solutions.
When we heard that there was a baby coming into the world soon that would need a home we said "YES"!! But we knew that while we had plenty of love to give her we did not have the funds to afford all of the legal fees that would be associated with adopting. Through YouCaring we were able to quickly set up a fundraiser, which allowed us to keep more of the funds than any of the other sites I checked into. We have already hit over 1/3 of our goal in just a few weeks.
When my friend Marilyn expressed her pain and despair about her situation, I immediately offered to help. I knew she would need to be able to access the funds quickly, which a different crowdfunding platform that I've used did not allow. The other platform disperses funds monthly.
I googled to find reviews to help me understand which platform would best fit our needs - it took less than five minutes to settle on YouCaring, and not much longer than that to get us set up and going. It has made an incredible difference for Marilyn.
You see, Marilyn's son is set to be executed by the state of Texas on April 12th. Yes, he was there when the crime happened but he was not the killer. Texas's "Law of Parties" makes everyone involved equally culpable.
But Marilyn had nothing to do with that. She did not stop loving her son because he had been involved in a terrible crime, and she has visited him in prison from the time he was arrested.
Recently Marilyn lost her job. Her car is not worthy of weekly four hour trips to the death row prison. Texas does not allow visits on consecutive days, so Marilyn was hoping to rent a car and stay two nights in a cheap local hotel in order to get two visits a week with her son for the last 6 weeks of his life. Add to that the cost of a funeral home to retrieve the body - without which he will be buried in the prison cemetery.... So that's how we set our goal.
I set it up and put out the word to some friends who donated themselves and shared about the fundraiser. The response has been nothing short of heartwarming, and steady. As of last night, we're about 75% of the way toward our goal! Marilyn has four more trips to make before she has to pay for a funeral. It looks like we'll hit our goal, and we've decided that if she receives more than she needs, that will go to help others in a similar situation.
We really appreciate YouCaring for allowing this to be possible. We know this is a difficult topic and some people might get ugly about it, but we've seen nothing but love so far. Thank you to all of you at YouCaring, and to everyone who has helped!
Our nephew Sebastien was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE) one year ago. He has had so many doctor and hospital bills, we wanted to do something to help. There are so many crowdfunding websites out there, but YouCaring felt right to us. The platform is so easy to use, and free! They are really helpful and actually care. We are so humbled and blessed by everyone who has helped us towards our goal. You have lifted a burden! Thank you, thank you!
We are SO appreciative of YouCaring for their help fundraising for our dear friends the Zuvela's.
When I researched sites for fundraisers, we decided on YouCaring because their fees are much lower than other sites. They simply charge the credit card fees and nothing above that! Their customer service has been excellent as well. I have used the live chat multiple times. We're well on our way to our fundraising goal now!
Steve, who lost the use of his legs in an accident over 30 years ago, has recently suffered a major injury to his left arm while doing a routine transfer from his wheelchair to his vehicle. He came through surgery well, but he must not use his left arm at all for 6 to 8 weeks. In order for him to function, he will need nursing care for a portion of each day for the duration of his recovery time and into the rehabilitation period.
After much research and searching, the family has decided to bring him home for the rest time of 6 to 8 weeks. They have hired a home health care agency who will be able to provide this care and will have all the medical equipment delivered, including an electric lift, hospital bed and high-end air mattress, commode/shower chair. The nursing portion of this alone is $1300/week—and it is self-pay. Insurance may cover some of the medical equipment.
Steve was recently discharged from the hospital and is now home. Once his left arm is ready to rehab, Steve will be assessed to see if the therapy will take place in a Transitional Care Unit, or if he’ll be able to do it at home.
Our fundraiser is helping Steve to regain his independence by supporting him as the family’s financial burdens include major bathroom renovation project, medical equipment for his home, self-pay medical/nursing expenses, and a new vehicle with a ramp to eliminate the painful, debilitating transfers.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to the YouCaring team for your much-needed service and assistance with the Zuvela's fundraiser website!

My brother in law just passed away on January 4th, 2017. He was only 34 and left behind 4 young, beautiful children. Myself and everyone who knew him are extremely heartbroken. I started a YouCaring fundraiser for his 4 children. I want to help save for their future..... Since their father won't be able to help them do so. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
After learning that our brother-in-law was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC), we wanted to do something to help. Knowing that they were facing a long battle that would slowly erode years of savings, we looked to crowd-sourcing and social media to assist. After doing research, we found YouCaring and felt it was a perfect match. The website aligned perfectly with fundraising for cancer victims, was extremely easy to use and administer, and plugged directly into social media. The thing we appreciated the most was that the funds were all going to the family and not being depleted by the company taking large percentages of donations to cover overhead like some of the other more popular crowd-funding sites we reviewed and researched. Thanks to YouCaring, the Smith Family received thousands of dollars in donations that helped cover travel costs and temporary lodging expenses while seeking treatment out of state. It was a great way for my wife and I to feel like we were able to contribute and add value to The Smith's during such a trying and stressful time.
In June of 2015 Tom was diagnosed with Lyme disease and treatment started. But in order to pay for the care he needed, both of our incomes came to an abrupt halt and it felt like our lives were turned upside down. It became clear very quickly that we could not do this on our own and needed to ask for help.
YouCaring offered a powerful way to allow me to ask for the help we so desperately needed and also stay connected to family, friends and neighbors. YouCaring offered a helpful, stress free tool in the middle of all we were going through, to keep all of our family and friends informed about what was happening, and also give people who wanted to help a way to do so directly and easily through a trustworthy source. Thank you YouCaring for what you offer to families in need and showing just how powerful kindness really is. I highly recommend YouCaring. We are forever grateful.

In life, we go through some difficult experiences. They are hard for people to experience, and I think we just have this tendency to want to put your head down, and close your eyes. When you do that, there’s so much that you can miss, and what you can miss is the fact that you are stronger than you think you are, and that people are better than you ever thought they would be, and that people are so kind and so generous. Our YouCaring page was a wonderful way to keep all of our family and friends informed about what was happening, and also give people a way to help.
