Today, I’m excited to announce that we’ve acquired Generosity.com and entered into a long-term partnership with Indiegogo to become their exclusive charitable crowdfunding platform. Generosity.com has helped Americans in need raise more than $100 million to date. This marks our second acquisition, after GiveForward, in the last year. We’re focused on building a brand centered on the belief that no one needs to face hardship alone.
Since 2008, Indiegogo has been a pioneer in crowdfunding for entrepreneurs and creators. With this acquisition and partnership, we are one step closer to fulfilling our vision of becoming the most loved and trusted charitable giving platform in the world. Thanks to our generous community of donors, we’ve been able to remain free to use since we launched in 2011, which has always been a key pillar of our strategy.
I’m also very proud to announce that YouCaring has crossed the $1 billion threshold, with a global community of over 10 million donors. We experienced exponential growth this past year, as YouCaring has increasingly become a destination for individuals in need of social, emotional, and financial relief during a personal hardship.
Americans rely now more than ever on crowdfunding to cover expenses for unexpected life events, disasters, and illnesses. We are by no means a replacement for a reliable social net, but hope to be an important stopgap for those falling through the cracks. Our mission is to help those in need — and that’s why we continue to keep our platform free, and why we became a Certified B Corporation®, leveraging business for social good.
