YouCaring welcomes fundraisers to save animals suffering from abuse. The more donations and awareness raised for them, the better. Animals need advocates when people mistreat them. To help prevent animal abuse, YouCaring wants to help you take a stand against animal abuse with just five easy steps.
1. Learn about animal abuse
Understanding animal cruelty is the first step toward making a difference in animals’ lives everywhere. According to the Humane Society of the United States, animal cruelty comes in two forms: animal abuse and neglect. Animal abuse is deliberate cruelty, such as beating, shooting, stabbing, or setting animals on fire. On the other hand, animal neglect occurs when an animal is not given food, water, shelter or proper veterinary care. Both types of cruelty are serious, and all animals affected by it require help for a better life.
Volunteer to help raise awareness about animal cruelty. Schedule a speaker from your local animal shelter to visit your church, office, or school to speak about the dangers of animal abuse. You can gather proper animal care pamphlets and distribute them in these community locations. This is an important step to teach your peers about the different types of animal abuse, and how to report it to local authorities, and prevent it from occurring in your city.
2. Report animal abuse
If you see something, say something. If you witness an animal experiencing any abusive or neglectful behavior, contact your local animal welfare agency immediately. If you have trouble finding out which local resource investigates animal abuse, it is best to visit or call your local police department or animal shelter.
3. Volunteer at an animal shelter
The best way to learn even more about abuse is to immerse yourself in the environment. If you’re eligible to volunteer, spend a few hours at an animal shelter to give back to abused and affected animals. Learn from the experts about best practices on preventing animal abuse. After you’ve had that experience, you’ll gain the ability to speak to your family and friends about the effects that abuse can have on helpless animals.
If you don’t have time to volunteer at a shelter, then contributing to a YouCaring fundraiser is a great alternative! Unlike most crowdfunding sites, we do not charge fees to use our platform because we believe that for people facing life’s challenges, every dollar counts. Please consider giving back with monetary donations to these successful YouCaring fundraisers:
Help FBR Build a New Shelter!
Fresno Bully Rescue (FBR) is a no-kill, non-profit rescue and shelter dedicated to saving bully-breed dogs including pitbulls. FBR is also the only breed-specific rescue shelter with a kennel in the entire state of California. Due to the amount of loving people in the area, FBR’s space is too small to handle the amount of dogs needed to be rescued! To watch their touching video and help FBR’s canine friends build their new shelter, visit here.
