Kerri Garcia misses her sons. For the last few months, she and her husband, Joshua, have been living in California while Kerri has received chemotherapy treatment following neurosurgery to remove a malignant tumor.
July 3rd was the day before Kerri was set to run her dream race, Mount Marathon in Alaska. She never made it to the race because she had a sudden seizure. Since that day, the Garcia’s left Alaska and headed to California so Kerri could receive treatment at UCSF, a top neurosurgery center. Kerri’s surgery on July 20th went well, when doctors removed most of the tumor that was detected in an MRI. Now, it’s all about healing for this mother of four. Kerri and Josh look forward to the day they get back home to their sons: Dylan,17, Braidyn,13, Ryker,10, and Tyg, 7.
“What I am most grateful for is that this happened to me and not to my sons. I am strong. I can handle it. And I can’t wait to see them again.” Just a few days after YouCaring met with Josh and Kerri, they reunited with their sons.
