YouCaring is very pleased to announce an important new partnership with the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) and its Founding Hope program. A leading national advocacy and support group at the forefront of the fight against childhood cancer, the ACCO is dedicated to helping children and families navigate the difficult world of childhood cancer, from diagnosis through survivorship and bereavement. The ACCO’s Founding Hope Fund enables families who have gone through childhood cancer themselves to give back to the community that supported them, honoring the spirit of their brave cancer warrior while building support programs in their local communities that will help to make others’ journeys easier.
ACCO’s Founding Hope Fund enables you to start a customized nonprofit organization without the time-consuming and expensive bureaucratic hassles that often hinder these types of organizations. The ACCO offers all the tools you need to create a successful fundraising operation, enabling you to focus on what really matters: getting help and support to the people who need it the most.
And the best part is that every Founding Hope Fund is completely unique. You get to create an organization focused on what is important to you, an organization that mirrors the spirit and creativity of your brave cancer child. While some families raise money to devote to critical childhood cancer research, others focus on providing family education and financial support or collecting donations of specific items that their child and family found especially helpful during their treatment, while others organize armies of volunteers to lend helping hands to families trying to balance family life with extended hospital stays.
In other words, the possibilities for your Founding Hope Fund are as boundless as your creativity.

Three Inspirational Founding Hope Programs
After her diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in September 2014, Karis’ treatment required an extended stay at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. After her treatment, Karis’ family realized just how much they relied on the support and assistance of family and friends during this difficult time. Karis’ Cause, therefore, is dedicated to making sure that other families in the same situation receive the same love, assistance and support that made Karis’ life and that of her family just a little bit easier. This amazing Founding Hope Fund is dedicated to taking the sting out of childhood cancer by providing financial assistance to families whose children are currently undergoing treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Ohio.
Love for Zac
After bravely battling neuroendocrine carcinoid cancer for seven months, Zac sadly passed away from this rare form of childhood cancer at the age of 16. Through the Founding Hope Fund Love for Zac, Zac’s family honors his commitment to fight this disease right up until the very end, as well as seeks to give back to the community that supported him throughout his fight. Love for Zac focuses on creating and donating hospital care bags filled with many small but essential items that often aren’t available to patients or their families living in the hospital for extended periods of time. Love for Zac collects donations of shampoo and conditioner, body soap, lotion, chapstick, gum and mints, eye masks, blankets and nail files (provided by ACCO), notebooks and pens, calendars, instant coffee and any other small comforts that can bring much-needed relief to families facing the long, difficult journey through diagnosis and treatment.
Wyatt was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and during his treatment, he spent more than 119 days in the pediatric oncology unit (4 West) at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. After his treatment was complete, Wyatt worked with his grandfather to design and build a rolling treasure chest that visits children currently staying at 4 West to help bring them fun and support during their treatment. For the past year, Wyatt’s Warriors has continued to stock this treasure chest monthly with donations collected through this incredible Founding Hope Fund. The chest itself is operated by the pediatric oncology nurses and is available to patients 24 hours a day. In addition, Wyatt’s Warriors organizes a schedule of volunteers to present fun and educational on-site science day camps to extended-stay patients.
