As we have seen with the events in Charlottesville and around the country, white nationalists are emboldened by the current political administration and growing police state. Rallies and marches organized by white supremacists are more prevalent than in recent years, and—as always—it is the most marginalized who are left vulnerable.
Many concerned individuals and organizations have asked for ways to contribute financially to offset expenses related to supporting affected communities. As demonstrators take to the streets to challenge those who wish to put and end to our existence, we must be prepared to support our people on the front lines.
We encourage those who can, to donate directly to local Black and queer organizers and BIPOC victims of white supremacy in your area. Additionally, you can donate to Charlottesville relief funds here: http://solidaritycville.com/donate
Any resources raised via BLM Resistance & Response Fund will be used for the following, at the discretion of Black Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter Cambridge:
- Bail and/or legal expenses
- Medical expenses
- Transportation & housing expenses
- Counter-protest coordination/planning
- Meeting spaces
- Regional support for Black victims of state violence/white supremacy
- Essential food and water supplies
- Honorarium for civil disobedience education
- On-site safety team and triage coordination
- Media, design, and printing expenses
- Other expenses as needed
Additionally, we ask that individuals continue to amplify the voices and concerns of Black and queer communities, and support those in need. RSVP to Boston's 8/19/17 Resistance Rally here.
