Hello and Marhaaban! I am an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from Central Massachusetts who has been accepted to serve on a medical mission this spring/summer with the Syrian American Medical Society. I'll be volunteering for two months at one of the over-crowded, understaffed refugee camps near Thessaloniki, Greece.
My goal is to raise $1500 to pay for airfare from Boston to Greece, ground transportation, food and accommodation for eight weeks.
Inspired by the horrific events of 9/11, I earned my EMT license in the summer of 2002. Since then, I have donated my medical skills after tornadoes in Alabama and Massachusetts, floods in New York and Oklahoma, and Hurricanes in Texas. I helped provide medical care in a cholera clinic after the Haiti earthquake of 2011.
Besides healthcare, I also have professional experience in systems/network administration, journalism, and teaching.
I am moved to action by the tragic situation in Syria and I want to help by offering my skills and experience to those who have been affected, Inshallah.
Thank you for reading,
