I along with my family visited Nepal in April this year. During our visit, I came to see one of the village elderly women (84 years old), locally called ‘Bhautini Aama’ in Syangja district of Western Nepal. She has developed severe disability i.e. blindness and hearing loss since last two years that prevented her movement and daily activities. She was married at the age of 12!, widowed at her teenage and unmarried since then; she has no children. She has lost vision, can't hear and move, live alone in rural hut (which is also hit by earthquake), can’t cook, nor have income sources to support and support from government..., you can imagine her condition!!
This situation really touched me, hurt me, brought tears in my eyes, and I felt that we have to do something humanly to help 'Bhautini Aama', and other elderly, living in similar hopeless conditions, in general. In the long-run, through our charity www.can-international.org, I would like to work towards building elderly home for such vulnerable and much-needed elderly in Nepal. But for now, if we can get at least a part-time Carer for a year, by paying £77/month salary, to support ‘Bhautini Aama’ for her living, that would be really a great help. Any donations for this great cause will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
