A Note from DanaPixie:
I have been volunteering at Bend Spay + Neuter Project for almost 3 years now and have witnessed first hand the wonderful work they do. I volunteer in the clinic here in Bend and working with the staff there has been very rewarding. Even though some of my duties aren’t the most glamorous (cleaning up dog poop and barf, laundry, and more laundry) I know they serve a purpose. But I also get to help recover the dogs/cats after they come out of surgery, and that is awesome!
Not only does BSNP provide low cost spay and neuter, they also have a Pit Bull program, how cool is that! Last year they started the monthly Warm Springs MASH clinic where they provide FREE spay and neuter for dogs that are on the Warm Springs Indian reservation. I have helped with these and it is a huge undertaking to set up a surgery room in the middle of a community center. But it works and has been very successful. Also monthly is the Central Oregon Cat Alliance feral cat day where local trappers trap feral and community cats from all around central Oregon. This can mean up to 70 cats spayed and neutered in one day! Think how many kittens won’t be born, the numbers are staggering. I have helped on these days and it is a sight to behold!
I am honored to be part of this team. The staff truly care about animals and our community. Their goal is keeping pets and people together, and they do that tenfold.
But don’t take my word for it, here is the 2016 annual report http://files.constantcontact.com/819221f8001/33cffd1f-45d0-42f9-8177-df2e5553b122.pdf and you can see for yourself all the awesomeness that is BSNP. But they can’t do it without help!
Thank you so much.
