The Story

The BIG CHOP!!

or … “Have you seen Jack’s hair lately??”
What started out as a bet between friends three years ago has turned into … well, have you seen Jack Gurnon’s hair lately?  And the neighborhood is worried.  Is Jack having a mid-life crisis?  Does he have dreams of going off to act with a Shakespearean theater company?  Could it be that business isn’t good enough and he can’t afford to get his hair cut?

15 Inches for $15,000
Measuring in at more than 15 inches long, the time has come for Jack’s hair to go!  In honor of BHV’s 15th anniversary, Jack Gurnon, BHV Council Member and owner of Charles Street Supply, has agreed to cut his hair to benefit Beacon Hill Village - one inch for every $1000 raised.

Please consider supporting the cause and donate now to help us “tame the mane!” And join us on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. outside Charles Street Supply, 54 Charles Street, and watch the “mane” event live, when some lucky person will get the chance to “chop off” Jack’s hair.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of friends and neighbors, the BIG CHOP was a HUGE SUCCESS, more than doubling Jack and Cassie's goal of $15,000 for 15 inches. The Gurnons and Beacon Hill Village are sincerely grateful for the amazing support. And Cassie is especially thankful to have her dashingly handsome husband back!! A BIG thank you to all who liked, shared and donated.

10 inches guaranteed - 5 more to go!!
As of this afternoon, we crossed the $10,000 mark, meaning there will be at least 10 inches of long lovely grey locks adorning the sidewalk outside Charles Street Supply this coming Saturday at 11:00am. Thanks to everyone who has generously donated to the Gurnons' efforts to support Beacon Hill Village. Please share with your friends and neighbors and help us cross the $15k for 15" finish line. Who knows ... if we exceed the goal, maybe it will mean a buzz cut!!  Check out the Beacon Hill Times on Tuesday, May 2 for a rebuttal from Jack himself - a new kind of "OpEd" - and we hope to see everyone on Saturday for "The BIG CHOP LIVE!!"
