The Story

In January 2016 God broke our hearts for adoption in Nicaragua and we decided to do something about it. We started with "just doing research" but told each other we would take steps until God told us to wait. So far, God has been moving quicker than we thought and we are playing a little bit of catch up! It has been amazing to see what God does when you listen to His calling on your heart and trust that He will make a way for you.
We are taking steps to gather up our little Nica Baby and we couldn't be more excited!

The promise God has placed on our hearts is this
"If you return to me and obey my commands, then if your people are at the farthest horizon I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling in my Name" Neh. 1:9

There is so much I want to share, I want you to understand how my heart broke and leapt for joy at the same time. So, in my best attempt to explain our feelings, excitement, and all the other details we will be updating a blog regularly. Short snippets will be posted here but if you want the juicy stuff head over to

We truly believe God is gathering up our family from the farthest horizon and that one day we will get to hold our little one back home in South Carolina.

It's been a while... oops!

We have been so consumed with change that we have struggled with words. I try and write things that will interest you, that will get you to be excited about our journey to become parents. To be honest I don't think we have been too excited about this journey lately. Don't get me wrong, we TOTALLY want to be parents. We know with out a doubt that God has called us to adopt and adopt from Nicaragua specifically. We already love this little nugget more than we knew was possible.

But it is hard to be excited when there is so much unknown. In the past 6 months we have been in a time consumed by uncertainty, we didn't know where we would live, if we would keep our jobs, or even stay in the same community we loved so dearly. Turns out that God had plans that we could have never imagined.

November 2016 - Reed left his dream job at Flying King Ranch and Accepted a job with Bowers Forestry working as a field manager with one of his best friends.
The job was in Chapin, SC
December 2016 - I left my dream job as we looked to move our family to Chapin, SC. It was heart breaking to leave our community in Rock Hill.
January 2017 - We officially moved to Chapin and were blessed with a place to stay on Lake Murray! I accepted a job in down town Columbia.
February 2017 - We have put an offer in on a new home! Once we get in the house we can update our home study!!

These jobs have moved us closer to family, provided higher income, and given us the opportunity to purchase a home. God knew that these things needed to be in place to allow us to move forward with the adoption. As much as it wasn't our plan we are beginning to see how great of a plan God has laid out for us.

Thank you all for being part of this journey, for being excited for the valleys, mountains and plains that have come along the way.

We are excited to get back on track with the adoption. To move forward with growing our family

So today at 8 am we had our first home visit! Honestly, I was pretty scared. Worried that someone I didn't know was coming into our home, checking us out and deciding if they thought we were normal enough people bring home a little one. Talk about nerve racking!

All of our fabulous support system kept telling us not to worry, that the home study agency wants us to adopt a child as much as we do. And while that makes total logical sense, my mind hasn't worked very logically lately :) Well, turns out our friends were right. It wasn't scary, it wasn't a white glove inspection of the house. It was a 2 hour conversation about us, who we are, why we chose to adopt, and how we think this will change our lives. It was actually everything I have been dying to talk about for a long time!

So, PRAISE JESUS we are still moving forward!
Next up we still have ton of paperwork, we have individual interviews (Sept, 19th if you wanna pray!) and then everything gets reviewed, notarized, and sent off so we are officially done with the entire home study in October!

If you wanna be involved in all this adoption frenzy we have a few awesome ways for you!
1. PRAY! We always need it. Like seriously, all day everyday forever :)
2. You can purchase a piece of art from my GatheringImpossible line. 100% of the funds come straight over here! Plus you get a great little reminder to hang on your wall! Visit my ETSY SHOP
. Headbands and cowls! Super comfy and way cute pieces handmade by East of These design company. We have partnered with them and a percentage of the sale will go back to bringing our Nica Nugget home! These are only available through the end of September, order yours HERE
4. Mark your calendars for a Arts & Craft Beer night at Southern Brewed in Columbia, SC! Saturday October 15th Reed and I will be hanging out at Southern Brewed, music, art and good friends with a percentage of all sales going towards our adoption!

Say what?!

Yeah, we are still months off from being "done" with paper work, but to be done with phase one feels like I could do cartwheels!

We still need to be working on our funds. The second phase of the home-study requires a lot of payments out of our pocket. Think background checks, health checks (not covered by insurance), and too many copies of birth certificates, marriage licenses, pet vaccinations and more!

There are a few new options that you can take to help us with these costs.
First, is right here! Feel free to leave us a little gift through YouCaring.
OR you could purchase an item from our adoption art series, Gathering Impossible. These hand painted signs are done by ME (Gracie) and 100% of the profit goes to our adoption fund.
The NEWEST option is to purchase a headband or cowl made by East of These in FL. This company produces the product, we sell it and gain a portion of the profit towards our adoption!

Purchase your tin sign or headband here!

And don't forget, we ALWAYS need prayers. Prayers are the most valuable and something that we can feel daily.

Thank y'all for all the support in every way as we bring home our little Nica Nugget!
