At 12:01am on New Year’s Day 2017, while the earth ushered in the New Year, heaven welcomed Ava Bright Lee into the Lord’s presence with great rejoicing.
Ava bravely battled biphenotypic leukemia for three years until the Lord called her home. So many of you around the world have followed Ava’s story and her parents’ testimony of faith on this difficult journey, whether through the blog (http://fortheloveofavalee.blogspot.com/) or more recently through the Team Brighter Days Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/teamavabright/).
As followers of Christ, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. Ava is not dead, she is very much alive. While we take comfort and joy in knowing that Ava is in the presence of Jesus, the Lee family is acutely aware of the heartache felt in her absence this side of heaven.
As friends of the Lee family, this memorial fund is to support them as they heal – whether it is to help cover medical expenses, be used toward a trip, or to be donated to an organization or research of their choice, know that every gift you have given has already been a tremendous blessing to them. Thank you for your gift of time, prayers, cards, meals, messages, financial gifts and more. You have been a real-life illustration of what true community looks like.
Please continue to pray for the Lee family and for little Gwen who misses her best friend and sister. May the Lord continue to shine His light through the broken vessels of our lives, that He would receive all glory and praise.
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7
The family has expressed a desire to take time away to travel to Asia sometime to see family and have a time of rest and healing. If you have any miles or points that you would like to donate (chase, hotel, airline, etc.), please contact Hannah at: [email protected]. Please also contact Hannah if you have any connections to timeshares that you’d be willing to make available.
