The Story

Since 1851, the Armed Forces Retirement Home - Washington (formerly known as The Old Soldiers' Home) has provided our nation's Veterans with a retirement community in the heart of Washington, DC.

The Veteran Residents who call the AFRH home have long enjoyed a nine-hole golf course, funded by a Trust Fund and community associate members.  Revenues from the course also served as the main source of income to the Resident Fund, which provides recreational programing for up to 550 Veterans living within the home.

Due to budgetary shifts and rising costs, the golf course now faces a shortfall of $250,000, and unless this sum can be raised by December 15, 2016, the course may permanently close.

We, the Veteran Residents, are asking for your help in the form of monetary donations. The importance of this golf course is beyond words for those of us who served our country and are seeking vitality and peace during their retirement years.

We welcome donations in any amount to AFRH Trust Fund.  Donations are tax exempt and can be made online or by check, payable toAFRH Trust Fund, reference memo "Golf Course.”  Please send checks to AFRH CFO, 3700 N Capitol St., Sherman Building Room 114 Washington, DC 20011-8400.
