Our 5-year-old son Lion loves puffins, which he learned about by eating Puffins cereal and watching the kids' show "Puffin Rock." Today he made a "fishing net" out of paperclips because he wanted to catch fish to give to puffins, since gulls sometimes steal their food.
This turned into a conversation about other challenges puffins face, and how best to help wildlife. We did some research and he decided he wanted to make a poster (pictured here) to help people learn that puffins need our help, and that he'd like to use the poster to help raise money to donate to Audubon Project Puffin.
If we can raise $100, Lion can "adopt" a puffin, and will get to learn all about that particular puffin's life. Your contribution will help National Audubon Society to continue their vital work in cleaning up habitats in the Gulf of Maine to make them safe for nesting puffins, as well as their research into seabird food supplies which helps us understand our changing climate and the health of the oceans. (I'm putting in myself as the beneficiary here - they won't let me put Lion's name because he's not 18+ - so Lion can turn the funds over to Project Puffin and hopefully adopt a puffin; rest assured they will get 100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser.)
Thank you in advance for any donations, as well as for sharing this fundraiser, so Lion can help puffins, and so he can feel empowered as a budding activist!
