UPDATE:We have surpassed the original amount for 30 pairs of shoes!!! I'm going to be ordering more shoes with the extra money and some winter hats and gloves to pass out with them! Any extra money is appreciated and will help buy for more vets!!
So last year I, with a lot of help from you all, raised over $700 for the homeless; specifically homeless vets. And made them care packages with toiletries and gloves and socks and hats and food gift cards. My friends and I passed out over 35 bags.
I noticed there was a common thread between almost all the homeless people; the condition of their shoes was HORRIBLE. Most had holes in them and the soles were falling off. A lot of them were way too small and were taped up with duct tape to keep them together.
So this year I'm raising money for new shoes for them. Winter is coming and I don't want to think of them having freezing and soaked feet from their worn out shoes. One new pair of shoes can make a big difference for one person. I know you can get a decent new pair of sneakers for $35. If I can find some winter shoes/boots for around that price I will get those kind.
I'm going to source prices and the best options this week. Then see about getting them in the most common sizes.
Let me know if anyone would be interested in donating to this! No need to feel that you have to donate $30, I know that's a lot. Even $5-10 makes a huge help.
I just feel with all this negativity going on right now in America it's time to make someone else's day.
