The Story

Our beautiful friend, Anne Havens, mother of Violet, 7, and Lydia, 2 was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.  We have started this page to raise money for Anne and her family in an effort to help offset the long-term cost of expenses and treatments.

On Wednesday, July 26th, Anne will undergo outpatient surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO to remove her ovaries.  The recovery time for this surgery is 2-4 weeks.  This type of Breast Cancer is highly Estrogen driven and her team of doctors at Kaiser are very optimistic about this course of action.  After she has healed from the surgery, they will conduct more tests to determine the next steps.

Anne stopped working at an Esthetician and Yoga Instructor soon after the diagnosis was made so she could concentrate on healing herself.  She is primarily focusing on meditation, yoga, prayer, diet and energy work along with the guidance and treatment of her team of doctors.  She is in great spirits and is ready to move forward.

As her Dad recently said, "it takes the whole family to beat Cancer".  Let's show Anne and her family how we can all come together in support of this journey.  Thank you so much.  We will update this page as more information becomes available.

Side effects are for the birds!! Anne has been experiencing menopausal symptoms over the last few weeks after her body was forced into menopause. Intense hot flashes, mood swings, exhaustion, and sleeplessness have ramped up after the oophorectomy (surgical removal of the ovaries). The hormone blocker Letrozole, that is part of her treatment, can also contribute to the frequency and intensity of these symptoms. Her oncologist recommended acupuncture to help lessen the severity of the hot flashes. Thankfully, she has been experiencing some relief with these treatments. Anne is continuing to enjoy life and her family and friends as much as possible. Meditation, prayer, exercise, time in nature and laughter are helping her to stay grounded and joyful. She is beyond grateful for the financial, emotional and spiritual support that friends and family are so eager to give. Anne would like to thank each of you individually but it is taking longer than expected and she just wants everyone to how deeply grateful she is for your donations and how much it is helping to relieve financial stress during this journey.

Anne and Jim had a good meeting with the oncologist today who reviewed the blood test results. The cancer markers are reducing from the estrogen receptor medication and removal of the ovaries. Her Oncologist wound like to continue monitoring for the next few months and discussed further treatments over the course of the year. They are so thankful for your continued support and donations during this difficult and stressful time. Anne and Jim truly appreciate the outpouring of love from the community as it continues to uplift their spirits.

Tomorrow Anne will be going in for blood testing that will determine next steps by her oncologist. Anne has been working hard at nourishing, detoxing and optimizing her immune system after surgery. Big prayers  that her blood test results show signs that the cancer is reversing.
