Hi, my name is Garrett Moores and I am currently the Holder of the Michigan Football team. Last year, Peter Mortell, the punter/holder for the Minnesota football team started an award known as the Mortell Holder of the Year. This year I was the lucky recipient of that award.
In the spirit of the Mortell Holder of the Year Award, Peter Mortell decided to use the award to promote charity and use the charity as a means of helping our local communities. This year, as the winner of the 2016 Mortell Holder of the Year, I look to follow in his footsteps in order to help out my local Ann Arbor community and, more specifically, the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.
During my time at the University of Michigan, I have made several visits to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and have always felt a sense of connection with those who have served our country. Those who serve are very much deserving of our respect and, in the spirit of the holidays, are deserving of our help and contributions that could help make their holiday experiences as best as possible. This charity looks to do exactly that.
Currently, I am in talks with the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System about doing something special for the holidays for those who are currently patients in the hospital. While we do not have something specific in place, if you choose to make a donation to this charity, I can assure you that all funds will go directly to the Veteran's Hospital of Ann Arbor to promote a positive cause for those who have served our country.
On behalf of myself and the HOTY Foundation, I would like to thank all contributors for choosing to help our cause and, more importantly, for helping our United States Veterans have the holidays that they deserve.
Thank you again, and God Bless.
