2016 started out with a bang. We had just got to a point where we could start saving for Eva's MRI and things were looking up a bit. On New Year's eve, 2 of our pups tested postive for parvo. Within a week, we were treating all 12. Everyone survived but this cost us roughly $1500 and depleted Eva's MRI fund as well as our back up vet fund.
About a week later, Turbo, a pup from another litter of 4, started having seizures. The vet thought this was a liver shunt so we spent the money on ultra sounds, special foods, medicine, etc. Then a couple of weeks later, Zoey from the same litter, started the seizures as well. Unfortunately, she did not fully recover neurologically from the seizures so she crossed the rainbow bridge. This was especially hard because we still don't have any answers as to what is causing this. It is not a liver shunt after we have run a bile test on each of these two pups. We are waiting for more test results but between the emergency vet and the 2 vets we have taken them to, these guys' bills have been about $2500.
We were asked to set up another fundraiser by one of our supporters, so here it is. If you can help at all or just share, it is greatly appreciated. We have some more fundraisers coming up as well, that will provide an added way to help out!
