As many of you may or may not know, my husband, Angel Velez, was co-raised by his beloved maternal grandmother (a.k.a. Abuelita) Lucila Rodriguez, in Yauco, Puerto Rico.
In less than 3 weeks after Category 5 Hurricane Maria swept through the island of Puerto Rico, on Sunday evening on October 15, 2017, she passed away at the local Yauco hospital due to the lack of proper medical care and resources and negligence after complaints of pain in her stomach and other parts of her body in their emergency room (due to lack of electricity which forced her and her caretaker to not eat cooked food for several weeks and she suffers from her diabetes which has resulted in loss of her sight).
It was a shocked to everyone in her family and we are deeply grieving her loss to our family. Her wake and funeral costs are steep. Therefore, we are in dire need of your help to assist the Rodriguez family in providing a dignified wake, funeral, and burial for this amazing matriarch. #RIPLucila #PuertoRicoSeLevantara #RodriguezFamily #VelezFamily
