The Story

It has been a long and terrifying week for all of us as Hurricane Irma has struck the whole Caribbean on Sep 6th. Our beloved community has been devastated and our employees and their families have lost everything. The Soares family has lived on Anegada since 1966 and opened Neptune's Treasure in 1973. It is the oldest restraunt on the island.
Many of you have asked how you can help Neptune's Treasure and our employees. Every dollar donated will go to help rebuild the lives of our employees and Neptune's Treasure as a whole. Any donation is greatly appreciated

We Have Power!!

A Big Thank You to Mitch, Kenrick, the four men from Grenada, all the volunteers who came out to help and Danny Vanterpool's crew at the Anegada power station! They all worked tirelessly since Imra struck us over 6 weeks ago to restore power to the island! We are very grateful!

Set Back

We are sad to post this but our compounds generator has gone up in flames. We won't get much sleep tonight with the mosquitoes, sand flies, etc. and not to mention the heat with no fans.  It's one thing not to have electricity during the day, it's quite another at night. You can cope with most anything in the day if you can get a good nights sleep. It's most defiantly something we weren't expecting! With flash lights and lamp oil we say goodnight !

Rebuild to Reopen

The electricity is doing well in the Settlement and Mitch and Kenrick are working very hard to get the power to the the rest of the island.  It's a lot of work running wire from poll to poll by themselves with no bucket trucks. 4 guys from Grenada just got here to help Mitch with the electricity polls and pulling wire. Dean, Aaron, Matt, George, D'Andre and Oliver has been helping them with pulling and untangling wire for the polls.

We Got Fish!! We were able to put some pots together and haul those out to get a reasonable amount of fresh fish! It was nice to have something new to eat. We also have running water most of the day now.

Big thank you to friends from Jost Van Dyke that came here this week and brought some things and gasoline to help out. Tortola unfortunately has limited lumber to start rebuilding.

Convoy of hope has donated to Tortola and Michelle is meeting a Reverend from a local church to put provisions on the Argus. Donations are made to Tortola but not getting to the other islands or not getting there quickly. The ferries are still charging money to transport people back and forth to Anegada and there's still only one little store trying to provide for everyone. 300 people may not seem like a lot but because of what we have been through and then getting on a ferry every week for food. It's a lot of money that people don't have to buy food they need with no job and some with no homes and still living in shelters.

Thank you everyone for having us in your prayers, your kindness is very much appreciate!  We still have a long ways to go but we are hoping to reopen for business by the beginning of the year! We will keep updating!

Love, The Soares Family
