It's hard to believe, but this week marks one month since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico.
Our Women for Justice leader, Amy, has been able to text via cellphone with team members on a regular basis even though electricity is still out on much of the island, and Internet access is sparse. In the last two days, Amy's house has finally gotten running water, although she is not sure if it's a permanent fix just yet. Grocery stores have empty shelves. There is still so much work to be done but Amy has a strong spirit and a wonderful community of neighbors.
The local economy is completely stalled, with banks and ATM's not functioning and a majority of the residents unable to get back to their jobs because their jobs/workplaces no longer exist.
Amy wants you to know she is grateful for the help and 'overwhelmed' by the support she feels from us all.
