Altevette School is a UK based charity working in cooperation with Altevette Onlus, a non-profit organization, based in Italy to fund the building and running of a fully residential school in Upper Mustang, Nepal.
We are unpaid volunteers raising donations to fund accommodation and education for 51 disadvantaged girls (5 to 18 years of age) from poor families living in remote villages in the highlands of Upper Mustang on the border with Tibet and Nepal.
The girls, who have no other options for schooling, receive a full government school curriculum as well as 3 languages - Tibetan, Nepali and English, in a safe learning environment. Buddhist ritual activities and Buddhist instruments such as gongs, cymbals, trumpet etc. are also learned.
The school was opened in 2012 with 18 students and due to the high demand from families wishing to enrol their daughters in school, there are now 51 girls and possibly 7 more girls will be enrolled before winter term opens later this month (October 2017).
This growth has resulted in the need to build more classrooms, dormitories and teacher accommodation. Due to the severe space limitation girls are using the kitchen areas and their dormitories for their homework studies. As the school currently provides education from Lower Kindergarten to Class 8, this lack of study areas is restricting the older girls in their studies.
Please help us raise the funds to build a small library and study area to help girls make the most of their schooling opportunity in this harsh environment. We need to raise an extra €2,500 over our normal budget for funding the school.
As we are unpaid volunteers, all donations collected are 100% sent to the school in Upper Mustang without any administration deductions.
