The Story

As most people know, I lost my job in April. I can't pay any of my bills as I haven't found a new job yet. It is becoming increasingly clear I won't be able to find a job in this area. It has also become clear I will never fit in here. I'm a disabled queer person living in a rural area, which as you can imagine makes things quite difficult. I don't have any local friends, and I certainly don't have support from my family. I'm sick and tired of trying to make this work, and so I'm doing something it absolutely kills me to do. But sometimes you just gotta swallow your pride... I need help.

I need money so I can settle my final bills, put my things into storage, and move to Phoenix. I have friends I can stay with, and there's a much better job market there. This is a chance for me to have a better life, and it's something I've been wanting desperately for a while now.

Please, anything you can donate would help me out a lot. If you can't donate, please share this with others.

Thank you.

It's been longer than I meant to, but here's an update on how everything is going. I arrived in Phoenix last Friday, and it was a rocky start, but things are going swimmingly! Within a week I've found a much better job, and I'll be starting on Monday. I also have leads on apartments, and will begin viewing them as soon as I have enough saved for deposits and furniture. It's going to be a while before my first paycheck, so if you can afford to send a little money my way, please do. I'm going to keep my campaign up until then. This weekend is the Rock for the Cure, so I'll be going out with friends to celebrate and see some awesome local bands. I'm so excited, and this is the happiest I've been in a long time.

I think probably what means the most to me is that people were generous, they understood what I was going through and donated money and time to get the word out. I'm incredibly touched, and can't thank everyone enough. Every booster, every donor, every person who even looked at this page and sympathized with my plight. This is all thanks to you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I've got most of my stuff packed, things I'm not taking with me donated to Goodwill. I have more errands to run on Monday. Mostly change of address cards, selling my furniture, things like that. I've kind of been putting them off because I've been so tired lately. And I've got Dad coming over tomorrow to help me move stuff out to his place. I want this apartment cleared out so I can scrub and spackle and make this place sparkle in the hopes I can get my security deposit back. I'm gonna need the money.

I'm happy that I'm so close to the halfway point, but I also worry because there's so much left to do. Again, please keep boosting, and please if you can, donate.

Also, I've received an e-mail from YouCaring. If you've contributed to this campaign, please follow @YouCaring on Twitter and Instagram, and post a photo of yourself holding a sign advertising this campaign. Make sure to add #SignedWithLove and post to either platform. It could mean a big donation to this campaign. Thank you so much, everyone.

Packing is going okay. It's slow because it's just me and my back is not liking me. My Dad has offered to help me get my stuff down to Phoenix, but his projections as to when this will happen are completely unrealistic. He was going to try to move me down there this weekend. He wouldn't be helping me move anything or pack anything, just driving the truck. I told him flat out that will not happen and had to remind him why.

See, part of the reason I'm asking for money is so I can hire some people to help me pack up and move things. After a severe sciatic nerve injury last summer, it's difficult to do this kind of thing. I'm managing, but it's going very slowly. I'm going to at least try to run errands today, as I need more cleaning supplies and I'm out of shampoo. Also I should probably eat some sort of food at some point today.

Thanks again everyone who's donated and signal boosted. Please keep this going!
