Posted on February 4, 2017My dad's health got aggressively worse in October 2016. He was hospitalized three times over the course of five weeks--the last involving a coma. He woke up to the sound of my brother calling for him. ("아빠 아빠?") I am glad he woke up to see his son one last time, see some friends and family, and hear us tell him we love him.
He passed away this morning (February 3, 2017). I was with him to his last breath and heartbeat.
Thank you for your help. I started this fundraiser last year when I thought it was my last few days with him, but we miraculously got another year out of him. He was ready to go today though, and he passed peacefully in his sleep.

Posted on March 8, 2016As of mid February, it has been determined that my dad is no longer terminal (i.e. 6 months of life left). He is somewhere between class B and class C on the Child-Pugh scale of liver cirrhosis, and his doctor says he may even live up to three years if he drastically improves some habits.
In July (which will mark six months of treatment), if his condition has not gotten better, he may opt for getting on the list for a liver transplant. Thank you, a million times over, to those who have donated so far. Your money is not disappearing into thin air, I promise. I am still paying for my dad's burial plot (started payments in January), and his situation is still dire--he's just not facing death as soon as I thought he was.
