The Story

It's time to step up for the hardest working rider and writer in bicycle safety and advocacy.

A great guy, dear friend, tireless advocate and champion for cyclists of every stripe, a top-notch journalist and one of my literary partners in grime, Alan Snelwas badly injured recently after being hit by a car from behind.

The incident that put Alan in the ICU took place in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was badly injured and is unable to work at the present time. He needs our help with medical and living expenses while he starts a long, but what we hope will be, a full recovery.

Please give what you are able for a man who has helped so many  - whose promotion of bike safety and infrastructure gave places like Tampa, Fl. its bike lanes. Keep him in your thoughts while you work in your own communities to promote cycling infrastructure, driver awareness and bicycle safety.

And please share this campaign far and wide so the giving is amplified.

Note: This fund goes directly into Alan's bank account. I've organized it as the official giving campaign at the request of his family, friends and my own deeply held belief that we must be there for each other in times of need. Best, Joe Metal Cowboy Kurmaskie

OK folks, With the Grupetto donation in the mail that brings the grand total to $9369. We are so close to reaching $10,000 goal. A huge thank you to each and everyone of you who has donated and aided in Alan's recovery. He's such a gift to the cycling community ad the world at large. I know all too well that everything is only for a little while... we are so encouraged that Alan is still here and has so funds to let him relax and focus on healing. If you can kick in a few more bucks and put us over the top... go for it. Cheers, Joe Kurmaskie

I wanted to let folks know have grateful and moved Alan and his family are by your generosity. I spoke with them and it has raised spirits and shown our friend the positive impact he's had on so many and so many communities. It is really helping to ease worry so that Alan can focus on recovery. We've raised over 1/4 of the goal in less than 24 hours. Please keep sharing the link and spreading the word so that the stress of money concerns can be placed on the back burner. Thanks, Joe Metal Cowboy Kurmaskie
