Mobile Clinic Work Camps by AEMRN
The Afro-European Medical and Research Network (AEMRN) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit -organization, working to improve community health in resource-limited settings. With headquarters in AEMRN Bern, Switzerland and representation in countries across Africa and Europe, AEMRN brings international communities of volunteers together to achieve its special initiatives, including mobile clinic work camps.
The mobile clinic work camps bring medical and other professional volunteers to live in communities, while providing health education and clinical services. Volunteers are a mix of trained medical professionals including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, educators, logisticians and other public health professionals. Many are experts with leading public health agencies who leverage their experience with timely public health concerns, such as updated treatments guidelines in tuberculosis, to enhance local capacity to continue treating patients after the camps.
Health promotion and training
Each camp includes at least one community health education seminar. The seminars are run as traditional community gatherings to encourage natural participation and a culturally appropriate setting. Topics are identified and materials are developed in consultation with the local MoH. The community sessions are implemented by local health workers with support from AEMRN volunteers. Participation is entirely voluntary and always conducted in a community locale to encourage maximum participation.
Training sessions for local health care staff are also included as part of each mobile clinic. AEMRN volunteers work with local health staff to identify areas of special interest and continuing education needs. Health workers from surrounding communities are included to maximize the benefit of the trainings. The trainings may also include trainer-of-trainer sessions, depending on resources and participation of partners.
We look Forward to your Support and thanks very much in advance.
