NEWS!! We arrived home with our 3 new sons on June 21st. When we stepped off the plane, they became American citizens! Thank you to everyone who donated so generously. We are forever grateful. As I write this we have been home now for 3 months. We are so thrilled to love and be loved by these fantastic boys! Our BIG NEWS is that we're preparing to go back to Ukraine to adopt 2 MORE new sons! You can read all about it at our new page here: www.youcaring.com/idoni2

--- Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
My husband Jim and I always talked about adopting someday. After 26 years of marriage and raising 5 great sons, we all felt that God was beginning to prepare our hearts for adding to our family through adoption. We have so much love to share -- it just seems like God's perfect timing in our lives.
This past summer we learned about Ukraine orphans and some terrible statistics. At the age of 16, usually on August 31st each year, orphan children are basically turned out on the streets with very little in the way of clothing, skills or any hope at all. Only 50% survive to see their 20th birthday... and over 80% never reach the age of 25. Without guidance, newly "graduated" orphans become targets of predators and often end up in drug-addicted and crime-filled lives.
"Jacob" is only 11 years old, but he doesn't deserve to spend one more day without the love of a family. We are so joyful that God is leading us down this path to adopt him! He will have many older brothers to love on him, too.
After the funds for adopting Jacob are raised, we will continue to raise funds to adopt 2 brothers who are 15 and 16 years old.
Yes! We have been approved to adopt THREE boys! :-)
Nick, who is 16, will only be allowed to come to America because he has a younger sibling. The United States does not allow a child who has turned 16 to be adopted internationally and enter the country as a citizen. But because he has a younger sibling, an exception is made. God has perfect timing -- and Nick and Anatoliy (15) will have a family, too!
Nick is living at a trade school since he aged out of the orphanage. His brother went along with him, even though he could have had another year without being completely out on his own. The brotherly love between them is so evident and we are so glad they still have each other and have not been separated. Also -- they have now learned that our family is coming for them!
Thank you for being a part of making these boys' dreams of having a "forever" family a reality -- and for helping us to bring them HOME.
