Acorn Montessori School is proud to announce that we will be breaking ground on our very own gymnasium this summer! This gym will be located at our West Campus with a completion date in December of 2017. A school gymnasium has been a dream of ours since we opened our doors in 2000. With excellent growth and support over the last 16 years, we have gone from one campus with a couple of classrooms to two campuses serving over 525+ students from Preschool to 8th grade. We are competitive in many sports including flag football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. We believe in building a family community with engaging, rigorous, and hands on instruction. By adding our very own gymnasium we will be able to serve our students, families, and communities much more effectively.
Our goal is to raise enough money to fill our multipurpose gymnasium with adequate seating, bleachers, risers, and sports equipment. This building offers us the opportunity to host rigorous practice and games for our ISSA League sports that include Girls and Boys Basketball , as well as Girls Volleyball. This year Acorn became the undefeated Soccer Champions! The gym will allow us to perform any need the school might have such as ceremonies, dances, theatrical arts, family nights, festivals, school fundraisers, and much more! We hope to make this gym not just an Acorn gym, but a community gym. Please help us give our students the gym they deserve!
If each adult at Closing Ceremonies tonight donates $20, we would have $28,000. That would be a great start toward our goal!
What our students have to say...
"We have to practice volleyball and basketball outside, which can make players more tired than usual. We could have games at the school, instead of having to drive everywhere ourselves. We could also have assemblies there." - Kamy Gallo - Grade 8
"If people didn't have a gym, they could use ours." - Jax Roberts - Kindergarten
"A bunch of kids could sit in the gym for family nights." - Joshua Janowski - Grade 1
"I think having a gym would be very helpful. If it was raining, or any other type of bad weather, we have to cancel practice. With a gym, we would be able to continue practice. A gym would also prepare students more for high school sports." - Austin Prettyman - Grade 8
"You could play dodge ball in the gym!" - Roselynn Martinez - Grade 1
"When it's raining we could play in it when it's P.E. or recess." - Kyllian Whittaker - Kindergarten
"I think future students, including my brother, should have a gym! It would make assemblies so much easier and fun. Playing and practicing sports would be 100 times easier. It's a great idea and would benefit everyone." - Evan Tilley - Grade 8
