The Story

Acadiana Humane Society just pulled a sweet cat from St. John the Baptist Animal Shelter who had been hit by a car. He has a broken pelvis, which we are told will require a plate to hold it together so that he can heal properly. He is being transported today to our veterinarian that has an orthopedic specialist. We are in urgent need of sponsors for his vet bills, and the vet bills of the many other rescued cats, dogs, rabbits, and ferrets in our care. Won't you please make your contribution today? You can check out our website at acadianahumane.org.

Barney, the 4 lbs. poodle mix that we pulled from Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter, has been in medical boarding at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinicin Baton Rouge for the past week to evaluate his heart murmur, treat the blood in his bowels and urine, and determine the best route of treatment for his heart condition, as well as to kill the heart worms. The veterinarian has had Barney on blood pressure medication for his heart, as well as Doxycycline to prepare him for heart worm treatment. However, because of his size, the vet and our rescue agree, that we need to bring in a Cardiologist Veterinarian to determine exactly what his heart murmur is caused by (hole in heart, congenital birth defect, or heart worm damage, etc.) so that we can choose the fastest, yet safest method of treating his heart worms. We need to raise $350.00 ASAP to pay the Cardiologist on Friday afternoon when he has his appointment. We have faith that those who have been following Barney’s rescue story will want to help him. Please, if you can donate today, please do so! Any amount helps!Donations through WePay using the YouCaring fundraiser link are automatically deposited into Acadiana Humane Society’s main account on the next business day so we can pay the vet faster! https://www.youcaring.com/acadianahumanesociety-721729 If you prefer, we do also have a Paypal donation button here on our website. You can also call in a credit/debit card donation directly to Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinicby calling 225-755-3838 and asking them to apply your credit/debit card donation on the account of Acadiana Humane Society for Barney’s Cardiologist bill. The Cardiologist will be going to Azalea Lake’s Vet Clinic to see Barney for his examination and tests.

We can not provide this important veterinary care without your support and donations! Please help us help Barney! Thank you!

Acadiana Humane Society pulled Barney from Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelterrecently. We took him to Lafayette Veterinary Care Center to see about his bloody diarrhea and his very dark urine, which has since improved after being put on several medications. Poor baby also has a heart murmur, probably a congenital heart defect. He will need chest X-rays and further testing very soon. Donations are urgently needed as we are anticipating huge vet bills in the very near future for Barney. We have a Paypal button on our website http://www.acadianahumane.org/ , or you can donate via WePay using this YouCaring fundraiser, or you can send a check or money order made out to Acadiana Humane Societyto our mailing address at P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536. Barney has a vet appointment at Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinicon March 16, 2017 if you prefer to call in a donation directly to the vet where he will get chest X-rays and other tests done to determine the extent of his heart condition and his heartworms. These tests will help the vet to determine the best treatment to get him healthy and ready for adoption. If you choose to call in a donation, the phone number to Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic is 225-755-3838 and ask them to apply your credit/debit card donation on the account of Acadiana Humane Society. Our vet bill there is currently overwhelming and we are in urgent need to pay it down ASAP so that we can continue to save lives. Due to our outstanding vet bills, we are currently on an intake freeze for cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. Please, your donation, no matter how small or how big, can help us get back to where we can continue to do what we do to save lives. We also have several rescue pets currently under veterinary care for special needs, as well as many that are in need of vaccinations, medication, and flea and heartworm prevention. We can not provide this important veterinary care without your support and donations! Please help us help them! Thank you!
