The Story

Acadiana Humane Societyhas saved many special needs and injured animals and we are in urgent need of sponsors for their vet bills, and the vet bills of the many other rescued cats, dogs, rabbits, and ferrets in our care. Won't you please make your contribution today? You can check out our website at acadianahumane.org. We took in a tiny 1 pound kitten in December that had suffered a head trauma before he was found in the road, and had temporary blindness, deafness, and was unable to walk, and had a huge abscess on his head. Roadie is now fully healed, and can see, hear, walk and run and ready for adoption! We took in a litter of 5 Maine Coon mix kittens also rescued from the middle of the road that were sick, and are currently under veterinarian care. We took in a handicapped bearded dragon. As well as a couple of dumped dogs that needed vet care. Someone also dumped a sweet Ragamuffin cat with a clouded over eye, who is currently under veterinary care and may or may not need eye surgery. We are paying $100 to $600 at a time on our vet bills, yet the vet bills keep growing due to more and more emergencies and illnesses that we need to take care of. We need your help to continue saving and improving the lives of animals in need, so that we can find them wonderful new homes once they are better. Any amount helps! If you donate through this YouCaring fundraiser, your donation is automatically deposited into Acadiana Humane Society's bank account the next business day. You can also donate through our website using the Paypal donation button, and that money is easily accessible to pay the vet bills. Checks and money orders made out to Acadiana Humane Society can also be mailed to P.O. Drawer C; Sunset, Louisiana 70584-0536. Any and all support, no matter how small or how big, is very much appreciated and will help us to continue to do what we do. Thank you!

Sylvie, the formerly abused teenage German Shepherd puppy we rescued from St Landry Parish Animal Control, has either hip displaysia or an old hip/back injury that makes her sit, stand, & walk funny. When we brought her to the vet for her shots & exam, Dr. Landry also feels that Sylvie may have megaesophagus, a condition that would explain why she won't eat anything but certain can foods without throwing up, and why she coughs when she drinks water or yawns. She needs x-rays asap to determine if she has these or not, as special precautions will need to be taken for her spay if she does have megaesophagus to prevent her from suffocating during surgery. She needs donations for her vet bills please. You can either donate through this YouCaring Fundraiser (all donations are deposited into the rescue's bank account the next business day), or through Paypal or by check or money order. See our website for Paypal donation button and other information on ways to donate: http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/donate/
