The Story

A Place for Peanut is a non-profit sanctuary that rescues horses from kill pens, rehabilitates them and adopts out some but most are re-trained to become therapy horses.
On April 18 2016 a huge flood overtook the entire property and we were forced to evacuate all horses.  Most of our horses are miniatures, and some even orphans that were left to fend for themselves in the kill pen before we came along. They've never known a safe place until they came home to A Place for Peanut.
Our entire property was wiped out by the floods in one day. We are blessed to have had so many reach out to help rescue all of our horses but we have lost everything.
We must rebuild so that we can bring our horses back to the safe place they call home.
We are reaching out to all of you to help if you can.  Please consider a donation to us to help these animals in need and for A Place for Peanut to continue doing what we do - save horses!

Total devastation - worse than imagined. Such a sad day.

I have been visiting different locations of people offering their land to temporarily house our horses.  Right now they are in two different cities and I would love to have them all in one location where I can work with all and give them the support they need during this difficult time.  Imagine fighting for your life in a kill pen overcoming sickness, losing your dam or your herd, finally finding your way to a loving home and then experiencing a catastrophic flood where you are fighting for your life all over again.

Most of our horses are very young and have been through entirely too much too early in their lives.

Please continue to pray for our horses and our organization as we try to rebuild to bring our horses to safety.

UPDATE - All Horses are safe and dry. We have 3 in Hempstead and the others in Waller thanks to wonderful friends! We are now looking for temporary housing for all until we can rebuild.  #aplaceforpeanut
