Did you know that the number 2 highest cause of death among children ages 1-4 is drowning? Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) replies to that statistic in their mission statement "Not One More Child Drowns." Founded in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett, ISR is now the global leader in the industry it pioneered: survival swimming lessons for infants and young children.

I full heartedly want to become an ISR instructor and serve the families in the Seattle area. Within the past month I have become passionate about ISR mission and in awe of the direct impact they are having in the communities they serve. Lives are being changed and saved because of ISR.

I am a mother of a 19 mo old baby boy and have become so moved about how much my little guy could benefit from these lessons. But there is not an instructor in the area. Hence why I am fully committed to becoming an instructor. I know that I can make a positive impact in my community by serving the families who live in the Seattle area. By becoming an ISR Instructor I can make a difference in peoples’ lives.

The funds raised will be used to pay for the ISR Instructor training program, to get CPR and First Aid training, and to cover for traveling accommodations as I will have to travel to the location for 6 weeks. As a bonus I am offering anyone who would be so generous to donate $500 or more, free lessons for one child once I become certified.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

My deadline has been moved up to Aug 26 when my training will begin. Luckily I will be training here in Seattle instead of out of state as now I'm paying for a Master Instructor to come here. Which also means there are about 10 extra spots as of today for children to get these invaluable lessons. Please email me if you are interested.

I am half way to meeting my goal to raise $10K. It's looking good, but momentum is slowing. Please share my message with your friends and family.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Accidental drowning occurs at an alarming rate and we never think that it could happen to my child. Seattle is surrounded by bodies of water so I know how beneficial ISR is to this area. We may not be a place where every backyard has a pool, but many have lakes or pond nearby.
Please see this story from a mother that will truly tug on your heartstrings about her worst nightmare comes true and discover how ISR lessons could have saved her son's life.

Excerts from my acceptance letter:

Dear Stephanie,

Let me be the first to say “Congratulations” on the decision to become an ISR Instructor. As an ISR Master Instructor, I still remember sitting in the same position that you are today, and I can honestly say I cannot think of a more exciting time to be joining the ISR Team. After learning more about you, Stephanie, I am excited to be sending you the attached documents:

Instructor License and Confidentiality Agreement

Instructor Training Memorandum of Understanding

Pay It Forward Scholarship Memorandum of Understanding

I think you will find that the level of support you receive from ISR will only increase from this point forward. Our goal is to ensure that your training is the first step to a successful career with ISR.

I look forward to personally welcoming you to our team as a Certified ISR Instructor and to working with you to edge ever closer to our mission of “Not One More Child Drowns.”

Sincerely,
Ashleigh Bullivant

UPDATE From ISR - Thanks to ABC Action News Tampa Bay and ISR Instructor Angel Zysk, more families now know that a child as young as 6 months old can learn to save her own life if she were to ever reach the water alone.

I have become so humbled yesterday by God's mighty work that He is truly behind this journey that He is leading me on with becoming an ISR instructor. I have been blessed and overcome by joy with a HUGE Sponsor.

Thank you a million times over to the Trevor "Birdie" Foundation who is giving my a $5,000 endorsement. Thank You from the bottom of my heart!

"The Trevor “Birdie” Davis Water Safety Foundation was founded June 2006, as a result of Trevor’s accidental drowning, when he was just 26 months old. The mission of the foundation is to save innocent lives through education and awareness of the hazards that water presents for both children and adults.  We are devastated over the loss of our son, and have made it our mission to help prevent other children and parents from having to experience this type of tragedy.
As parents, we want to teach our children that you turn a tragedy into something good, help others, and set a good example no matter what the circumstances. The “Birdie” Foundation provides ISR scholarships for children who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to go through ISR lessons for financial reasons. We are also proud to subsidize ISR Instructors by providing tuition sponsorships for their certification training.
The Trevor Birdie Water Safety Foundation has been able to sponsor ISR lessons for 25 children, sponsor tuition for 7 ISR Instructors, and as a result, it is estimated that the foundation has reached more than 1000 children. We know through our work that other families will not have to live through such a tragedy.
