Tonka had his surgery to get the bullet removed today. They ended up also having to pull three of his teeth that were shattered by the bullet. He's not exactly a happy camper at the moment, but everything went well and he is at home recovering. His vet bills have now surpassed $3,000 but thanks to the support and generosity of our friends, family, and community, his bills so far are 100% paid for! Thank you all so much! Tonka wuvs you. <3
Also, I uploaded a photo of Tonka and the bullet fragment that was removed. He goes back in Monday for a check-up and to have the fluid drainage tubes in his neck removed, and then he goes back in the following week to get his stitches out. We will continue to post updates, so stay tuned.

First of all I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has donated to Tonka's fundraiser! We are overwhelmed with the amazing support we've received from our friends, family, community and even total strangers! Thank you.
The entry wound on Tonka's face is looking better and better every day. He has been sneezing blood the past few days, but overall he seems to be doing better. I uploaded a photo of Tonka's Xray where you can see the bullet fragments that are scattered throughout hise face and neck. The doctor said he wants to remove the largest bullet fragment, but we are still waiting for the swelling to go down before doing so. Tonka is scheduled for another visit to the vet on Monday to see if it's ready to be removed.
Also, on March 16th, Best In Show Pet Groomers in Stateline, NV will be donating all of their profits for the day towards Tonka's medical bills. Their address is 172 Shady Lane, Stateline NV 89449 and you can call them at (775) 901-2671 to make an appointment. Get groomed and help Tonka. Thanks Best in Show!
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! We've almost made enough to cover Tonka's first bill! He is now back home and resting, and will be going back into the animal hospital on Monday once the inflammation has gone down so the doctor can assess whether or not they should try to remove some of the bullet fragments. We will continue to post updates on how Tonka is doing. He has been such a tough dog throughout all of this.
We have raised the fundraiser goal to $3,000 to adjust for Tonka's rising medical bills. Any money donated that exceeds Tonka's medical costs will be donated to Sierra Veterinary Hospital (where Tonka was brought and treated) and to our local animal shelter.
