My name is Jessica Minor, and I am currently raising money for a new service dog. Since I recently finished grad school, the service dog will be able to help me start a new phase of my life with freedom and independence. My service dog will be able to assist me at home, at work in the hospital, and while traveling for conferences.
I have had a couple of service dogs in the past. The picture of the black Shepherd is of Serene who passed away at 5 years old due to health complications. She was the best service dog and helped me while I was living on my own in Pittsburgh for school. Because of her, I would like to have the chance at having another dog just as special.
Fibi, my new service dog, will be highly trained with advanced obedience and socialization, wheelchair training, and retrieval training in order to pick up things like my cell phone and papers. Above are some pictures of Fibi.
I will be getting the service dog from an organization in Florida, GatorlandK9, which specializes in training service dogs and dogs for veterans (http://www.gatorlandk9.com). This organization is a family run training facility that has been training German Shepherds for more than 20 years.
In order to cover the expenses of the dog and the training, the cost for the service dog is $15,000. I already have $2,000, but I am requesting help in raising the rest. I am starting now in hopes that I will be able to obtain the dog by December 2014.
If you or someone you know is interested in helping, please consider making a donation for my new service dog. Thank you very much!
