Skeeter is 5 years old and is the sweetest cat you will ever meet. He loves to cuddle, play with his toys, and tease his two sisters.
Skeeter is a very special guy. He has some neurological issues but they do not keep him from living a full and happy life. However, he is very sensitive to noises and other stimuli and gets very anxious unless he is in calm, quiet, familiar surroundings. A few years ago, he was also diagnosed with a heart murmur.
Right now, Skeeter is in the hospital being treated for a blocked urinary tract. This very serious condition requires several days of hospitalization with a catheter and I.V. fluids. This would be very stressful and unpleasant for any cat, but Skeeter's special brain and heart make it even more difficult for him! He really wants to get better so he can come home.
Because this is Skeeter's third blockage, his vet is recommending that he immediately have perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery to help reduce the likelihood of future blockages. Without the surgery, Skeeter will continue to get blocked in the future and could die of either the obstruction or from heart failure as a result of the extra stress of hospitalization and treatment.
If he does get the surgery, his total vet bill will be between $5500-7000. We do not have much time to raise the money as he needs the surgery very soon. Even if he doesn't get the surgery at this time, his vet bills will still total around $5000. So, we need to raise at least $5000 in the next two or three days!!!
I have Care Credit but it will only cover $1000 of his expenses. Skeeter's dad and I are both employed, but like many people these days we just don't have the resources to pay for the treatment Skeeter needs.
Plese, please help us save our special guy! We can't imagine life without him. Please donate whatever you can. Thank you!
