Cherise and Erik were engaged at Disneyland on August 15th 2012 and they could not be happier, he popped the question right in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle and after many tears of happiness she said YES!Contact the Organizer
Only two months later, she was rushed to the ER, as she could not breathe. Life as she knew it changed forever. Cherise was diagnosed with stage four Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She began chemotherapy right away and ended up in the ICU, in critical condition, after it caused her lungs to collapse. She was put on a ventilator and chest tubes were inserted into each lung to drain fluid in order to keep her breathing.
While in the ICU, her kidneys failed, which put her on dialysis for 6 weeks. She stayed on the ventilator for 3 weeks and in the ICU for 5 weeks. Her fiance, Erik, and her amazing mother & sisters stayed by her side through the whole thing. Being in the ICU for so long, Cherise lost all muscle mass in her legs and developed neuropathy and myopathy. She had to learn how to walk again. Learning to walk again is no small feat, but with much perseverance and support, she took her first steps four months later.
Because of the aggressive nature of her cancer, she found herself back in the ICU in critical condition multiple times. She had to learn how to walk for a second time and did so after only two months.
Despite all of Cherise's and her doctors' best efforts, the cancer was recently found to be incurable. Hearing this news has devastated her family and friends. Despite the unfortunate prognosis, Cherise and Erik would love nothing more than to be married in front of their family and friends, while they still can.
Although her oncologist has only given her 6-8 months to live Cherise believes with all her heart that hope and love will conquer the monster inside of her.
Cancer, and all of the bills that come with it, have put a huge financial burden on the couple and their families. Although Erik has been working 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, paying their bills is still a challenge.
This is where you come in! With your financial support, Cherise and Erik can have the wedding they have always dreamed of! Cherise and her family are making most of the wedding decorations, the save the dates and invitations themselves. We are asking for donations to put towards the cost of the venue and the catering as the couple cannot do it alone. For 120 guests, the cost of the venue and catering is $12,000 anything you can donate will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
The big day is just four months away on August 22nd, it was moved up from the original date of May 2015.
