John designed and was building a house for his family when he was tragically killed.  He was working on a side job when his tractor rolled pinning him beneath it.  He worked seven days a week to raise the funds to build the house, and spent his evenings working on the house itself. It was his hope to have the house finished before the birth of his second daughter this September.

His family wishes to honor John by completing the house so that his wife and children may live in the house that was being built for them with love.  It is their hope that his children may feel the love that their dad had for them, even though he is no longer with them.

Roof Truss Supply said that our doors will be ready by the 8th.  They should be going in shortly after they arrive.

This weekend the upper deck railing was installed.  It looks great and now Cadence can go up on the deck.  More siding was put up and a lot of the drain field was cleared.  We also stained some of the pine for the window trim, and cleaned up the debris from the texture spray on the floor.

Joe came out and put the cement board down on the floor for the tile.  He also came up with a beautiful pattern for the kitchen tile, and helped to pick out the grout color.  We should have the kitchen tile completed by next weekend.

The hardwood floor installation starts tomorrow.  Once that is completed the carpet will be installed, and then we move on to cabinets and doors.

The house is really starting to take off.  Thank you to everyone that was out to work on the house the last week.  The progress looks great, and I believe John would have been impressed.

Texture on the house was completed Wednesday the 19th.  Thank you so much for getting that done for us!  I know that it was extra work that the Local 41 was not expecting to complete.

Friday the 21st J-S Contracting was out to install the gutters.  It was no easy job with all of the odd angles we have on the house, but it looks great.  The guys really made it look like the gutters belong on the house.  I also met with Roof Truss Systems to get the doors and millwork ordered.  They will be donating all of the materials and trim.

Jerrold from Above All Construction was out on Saturday to do a walk through for the septic system.  He will be heading up organization for the project in conjunction with the board.  It sounds like we can expect to get the septic started fairly soon.  My father-in-law has already begun clearing out the areas that the system will be installed.  It was something that he and John would have done together.

Student Edge Painters were out all day today.  Thanks to Sherwin Williams, Issaquah they had the paint needed for the inside of the house.  At one point there was a team of 5 guys all working on getting the job done.  They should have the rest of the painting completed tomorrow.

Having the drywall and paint inside the house is really making John's vision come together.  It will be astonishing to see once the house has been completed.  John truly had an incredible vision for out house, and I am so thankful that it will be realized.

Thank you to all that have been out to work on the house.  Your hard work is extremely appreciated.

The guys completed the PVA spray on the house yesterday.  Brent Smith Drywall will be completing the texture early next week.  I also learned that they donated all the initial materials.

I met with the owner of Conklin Appliances in Lynnwood and he donated the washer and the gas cook top.  They will be delivered once we are ready for install.  An amazing woman named Emilee also met us at the store and she purchased the matching gas dryer.  These two individuals were both so understanding and helpful.  I feel very blessed to have met them.

The owner of Wooden Luxury cabinets came out on Wednesday and took all the measurments for the bathroom and bedroom vanity.  He is hand crafting the cabinets to fit inside our house and for our specific needs.  The hardware for these two cabinets is also being donated but I do not have the name of the company right now.

J-S Contracting was also out on Wednesday.  They took the measurments for the gutters and expect to start the installation in the next 7-10 days.  GMA Construction was also out Friday to take the measurments for the carpet.  They will be sending out samples of colors early next week.

Thank you again to everyone that has and will be contributing to our house.  It is greatly appreciated.

The contractors union has all of the mudding and taping completed.  They have started to put up the tape and plastic so that they may begin texturing the walls.  They expect to have the texture completed by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

All of the men that have been out from the union have been working on the house between jobs and in their spare time.  Sometimes even staying until 8pm.  I want to thank you all so much for the hard work and dedication that you have put forth for my daughters and myself.

Most of the dry wall has been installted.  Only a small area needs to be hung and a few areas still need to be mudded and taped.

This morning at 7 am Cadman came out and poured the remaining portion of the back patio concerte and the pad in front of the garage.  Some of John's coworkers from Integrated Concrete came out to do the flat work.  The patio looks great, and so do the stairs to the basement.

Today friends, family and other volunteers came out to work on the house.  There was a crew of 13 people out on site that put up more of the cedar siding and tongue n groove.  They also stained the materials that were installed.

McLendons Hardware donated a $500 gift card.  We picked it up today and will be using it to purchase necessary materials as they come up.

Thank you so much for all the hard work and materials that were donated today.

Monday the 3rd two men from the union were out to install the dry wall.  They were able to hang most of the dry wall and will be completing it today.  Once they are done they will begin the taping and mudding.  While I am still out of town and have not actually seen the work they completed I have seen pictures and it looks incredible.  I am amazed that only 2 men were able to complete so much work.  Thank you so much for donating not only the materials, but also your time.

The Ron and Don show was also out on site yesterday as well.  They were able to get a video of the crew working and also a visual tour of the house.  Since the house is only 1,000 sq ft the tour will be quick I'm sure, but you can view it on their web site.

Thank you everyone for your continued support.

Friday the dry wallers union dropped off all of the materials for the dry wall installation.  On Monday they will send out a crew to begin the installation.  Some of John's friends and family will be there to help with the installation as well.
Saturday 7 people were out to work on the house.  A large portion of the staining was completed, as well as the installation of the pocket door rails.  Some plumbing valves were replaced, and the pony walls for the garage stairs were framed in.

Thank you again to every one that has helped in any way with the completion of our home.

Over the hoilday weekend we had at times up to 12 people working on the house.  The insulation in the garage was installed, as well as much of the Tung and grove siding.  Many other projects were completed this weekend as well, including the fan installation, staining of the interior beams, much of the cedar shake was installed and the wood frame around the fireplace was put up.  The house was cleaned of work debris and tools to make room for the drywall installation.  I will post more updates as the work is being completed.

Thank you again to everyone that has helped my family in any way.  It is a blessing that so many people from the community have come together to honor my husband.

Thank you,

Breanna Norman

A crew of 12 men and women came out today to work on the house.  Many of the exterior cedar shake pieces were installed in the two small area's that John had not completed.  The pine shake installation was completed on the interior peak of the house, as well as much of the interior staining.  The next step for the interior of the house is the dry wall installation and then painting.

Thank you so much to everyone that has sent in donations and posted such heartfelt comments.  It truly means more than I can express in words.

I would like to thank everyone that has donated to finishing the house my husband was building.  I know that he would be happy his daughters will be living in the house he was working so hard to build.
I am truly amazed by the generosity of family, friends and strangers alike.  Every donation whether it be money, time or materials, will help realize my husbands dream and I am extreamly greatful.
