About a week ago I was watching the NBC Nightly News and saw the story about how Hurricane Sandy had devastated the lives of Pedro, Jennifer, PJ, and Alyssa. I had been watching the news for several days and had seen how so many people were so adversely effected by the storm, but for some reason Pedro and Jennifer's story really touched me. Maybe it was the fact that they seemed like such good people and such a loving couple. Maybe is was the fact that Pedro had defended my freedom and had been a first responder during 911 helping so many people during such a horrible crisis. Maybe it was the strength both Jennifer and Pedro portrayed through the TV as they verbalized their determination to move forward even though their home and all of their possessions had been destroyed. I admire people like Jen and Pedro and for that reason I decided to try to help them in what little way I can by donating some money towards their effort to rebuild there lives. Jennifer and Peter, having seen your story on NBC Nightly News, I searched to find how I could reach you to help. Sure enough, one of your deerest friends already set up this site. After living in NJ for 28 years near Belmar, I moved to NC this summer. I am heartbroken by the devastation at the shore. Peter we thank you for your service during 9/11 and also in Iraq. Jennifer, being a fellow marathoner, you know that the marathon is a metaphor for life's ups and downs but we eventually through perseverance and enduring strength get to the finish only to line up at the next starting line stronger than ever. You all will line up stronger than ever! My best wishes to both of you and your children. You will be in our prayers and God's hands.
