Memorial fundraiser to defray funeral, relocation, medical, and education expenses for the family of Denny Gonzales.

DENNY – A VIOLENT & TRAGIC PASSING

In details that have yet to be fully explained to his wife, Denny Gonzales was killed by Antioch Law Enforcement on Thursday evening, June 28, 2012. His pregnant wife, Andrea, was not at their home, the site of the shooting. The police investigation continues. However, Andrea’s entire world has been decimated, just one month before she will give birth to their long-awaited daughter.

DENNY – A TIRELESS COMMUNITY CHAMPION

The entire community of Antioch knows Denny Gonzales as “The Barber” of the International Barber Shop & Hair Salon on Lone Tree Way. Denny regularly volunteered to cut hair at a local child care center and donated pairs from his extensive Nike shoe collection to his mother's native country of Indonesia and local children in need. He was a gifted mentor & life coach, assisting teens with advice, job networking, and emotional support. Denny was quick to offer a place to sleep, along with food, to community members down on their luck.

DENNY – A DEEPLY DEVOTED HUSBAND & FATHER

Denny & Andrea were counting the days until they would hold their new daughter together in the first week of September. Andrea will call her Sakarie Nishelle, the name they carefully chose together. Denny was preparing the family’s new home for Sakarie’s pink and black zebra theme nursery. On Father’s Day of this year, Denny & Andrea spent the day shopping for baby dresses & accessories.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Denny’s wife, Andrea, faces the following mounting expenses that you can help defray while she copes with the sudden loss of her husband & imminent birth of their baby girl.

1. Funeral Expenses
Memorial service, casket & community viewing, cremation, unanticipated end-of-life fees.

2. Relocation Expenses
Denny & Andrea had given their move-out notice to their current landlord and a deposit on a new rented home, where they planned to raise their growing family together. Andrea now cannot afford the new home and her current lease has expired. She is literally between homes. You can help so much by suggesting child-friendly rentals you may know of and contributing to the family’s moving expenses. The home Andrea currently occupies is the crime scene and bears the scars of Denny’s ordeal, walls riddled with bullet holes & grief.

3. Medical Expenses
Andrea will bring Denny’s & her new baby into the world within the next 30 days. Newborns come with tremendous joy & expenses. In addition, Andrea would benefit profoundly from grief counseling.

4. Education Fund for Their Daughter
Denny would have saved from his daughter’s birth for her college education & personal success. Let’s start a seed investment that will grow with her, year-by-year, in a safe & protected college fund.
Mini Goal: $5,000+

Total Fundraising Goal: $15,000

This is a bare-bones, modest goal to simply help Andrea begin to rebuild her life without Denny beside her.  $15,000 is such a small sum compared to her immeasurable personal loss and the prospect of parenting alone.
