What Would Daniel Do is inspired by the life of Daniel Barden. This family endorsed effort pays tribute to Daniel’s life and honors his memory with the goal of inspiring others to share his kindness, compassion, selflessness, gratitude and appreciation of life. What started as a Facebook page (Facebook.com/WhatWouldDanielDo) has grown into a foundation. We saw the positive reaction of our followers and wanted to turn that page into something more.
For Daniel, kindness knew no boundaries. Through his constant show of compassion towards all living things, along with his effortless joy for life, Daniel taught us so much in his short stay with us. Whether he was in school, at home, or spending time with his large extended family, he served as an inspiration to others - the stories are endless.
Our mission is to inspire and empower every person to act with kindness in order to make a positive cultural change. Our goal is to help individuals build a sense of community and reduce social isolation. We believe by bringing awareness to these issues and providing opportunities for interaction and acceptance, cultural change will occur.
What Would Daniel Do is dedicated to working with any group or person who shares our goals, and the board is dedicated to maximizing every investment in this partnership to further the mission of the Foundation.
We plan to incorporate under the name What Would Daniel Do and will pursue 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. Donations to What Would Daniel Do are not currently tax-exempt, however we will notify donors and provide tax-exempt letters once we have received confirmation of our tax-exempt status.
