Fundraiser Details

Maurice Sendak, Melvin Ave. and Calvert Elementary schools are underserved public schools serving economically disadvantaged neighborhoods of the San Fernando Valley.

Through generous grants provided a few years ago, we were able to start a school orchestra program.  Every year, there has been a waiting list of enthusiastic and deserving students who wish to participate in these programs.  Unfortunately, this year, funds for teacher instructional pay did not come through and instruments are collecting dust in a school closet.

We need your help to keep these vitally important - and successful - programs alive.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn an instrument and experience the joy and accomplishment that comes with playing music.

Click on our video in the Gallery on the right to see parent and student comments on the importance of music education in the school curriculum as well as an excerpt from the All Schools Elementary Honor Orchestra at UCLA.

10/21/13 UPDATE:

Thanks to a generous gift provided by the Guitar Salon International Foundation, we have reached our goal to save the 2013-14 band and orchestra programs at Sendak Elementary!

We are still working to save our Calvert and Melvin programs with this online YouCaring campaign.  We hope to reach our new goal of $5,000 so that the programs can be fully restored in January 2014.

Thanks to the generous contributions of our YouCaring supporters, we are on our way.  We will be able to reinstate at least part of those programs in January with the funds collected so far.

We need your help to keep these vitally important - and successful - programs alive.

Arts in Education Aid Council will provide you with a tax deductible donation letter good for your 2013 tax year.
