Sadie and Murphy are beautiful 8 week puppies who were rescued, along 31 others, from horrendous conditions.  Sadie and Murphy are sweet, loving, and outgoing puppies.  Unfortuantely, they came down with Parvo a few short days after being rescued.  Their fosters were quick thinking and they were seen immediately.  Our worst fears were realized when they were both diagnosed with Parvo, a devastating and deadly virus.  Parvo is treatable, but is expensive because it requires hospitalization until the puppies immune system can kick in.

Since both puppies were taken to the vet early on, their prognosis is very good.  However, the vet estimates that it will cost approximately $5,000 to pay for their lifesaving treatments.

Please help contribute to the costs of the puppies' recovery - every contribution helps!  Every single penny goes towards their medical bills...and please continue to check in for their updates!\

Any funds raised over the $5,000 estimate will be sent directly to a medical fund for future medical emergencies, or animals with medical needs that are in need of rescue.  Thank you!

Good evening supporters!  We have great news for you all!  Murphy was released from the hospital this afternoon!!!

That means we have completed the "hospitalization" phase for the puppies - but that doesn't mean the fight is over for these puppies.  Both have been eating and drinking, which gives us good reason to be extremely optimistic for both of them.

We will keep you posted over the next few days as they continue to improve.  But I wanted to take a minute and thank each and every person you made a contribution financially or through kind words and messages sent to us.  We are so honored to have so many people supporting our mission in saving these puppies, as well as all of the other animals we rescue and adopt out.  Your donations made it possible.  The only reason we would have let the dogs go would have been due to funds.  However, all of your donations made it possible for us to ensure that they had the care that they needed to make it through the most critical phase for them.

We couldn't say thank you enough - because of you, two puppies are now resting comfortably in their foster homes surrounded by love.  We will update you again shortly!

Evening Update

Sadie continues to do well in her foster home where she can receive a lot more love and attention.  The foster mom said she is happy and is resting much more comfortable.

Murphy remains hospitalized for the night.  However, he did take his medication orally today and last time we heard, he handled that very well.  Assuming he continues to improve at this pace, he may be home in the next day or two.

Did you see ABC 2's story on Murphy and the amazing 8 year old girl who made our first donation? Be sure to check it out here: http://www.abc2news.com/news/region/harford-county/expensive-treatment-required-to-save-animals

And as always, please continue to share.  We are inching towards our goal but every penny counts and is needed to continue to provide the best care for these puppies so they can go on to living full and happy lives.

Thank you!

It's a good morning here at Saving Grace Animal Rescue of MD!

Sadie was released from the hospital late last night.  Her battle is far from done, as she will continue treatments from her foster home.  But being in a more comfortable environment will definitely help her!  The foster mom reports that she has some of her outgoing personality back.  The foster mom will keep a very close eye on her over the next few days and she will have a check up appointment in two days.  The next few days will really be crucial for her.

Murphy has come out of the little slump that he hit yesterday, but is still hospitalized.  Murphy's blood levels remain normal and they are attempting to switch him to all oral medication today to see if there is a possibility that he can come home sometime in the near future.  If he is able to keep the oral medication down, his temperature remains down and his blood levels remain normal, there is a good chance he will be able to continue to recover from his foster home as well.

The puppies are doing very well given the circumstances and we hope that we can post about a full recovery soon.  However, since they are being released, we owe the hospital the full amount due upon release.  Please continue to share their story and spread the word so that we can continue to provide the best care possible for them.

And as always, thank you very much!

Evening Update

Sadie has continued to improve and depending on how she does in the next few hours, she may be released late tonight to do outpatient treatment. That would be awesome for her to be able to rest in her loving foster home!  We will update you once we know more about her tonight.

Unfortunately Murphy took a slight downswing today.  He is not eating however he ALSO isn't vomitting and his blood protein has maintained.  The vet said that this is not uncommon, and it was a good thing he was already at the hospital and on support for this "downswing."  So we remain hopeful, but the next 24 hours will be very important for him.

Please continue to share and spread the word so that we can keep providing the support these puppies need!  Thank you!!

I just spoke with both animal hospitals and both animals are stable and slightly improving.  Sadie has perked up and seems to be feeling much better.  The animal clinic will attempt oral medication tonight.  If she is able to handle that, she might be able to recover further at her foster home.

Murphy will have to definitely stay another night for sure, but he has improved.  His vitals are improving, but aren't quite as stable as Sadie's.

Please continue to share their story, donate, and send your positive thoughts and prayers their way.  Even after discharge from the animal hospital, they will continue to have to fight.

Please turn into Fox 45 today at 5 to see a special news story on these babies.  ABC news will run a story tomorrow :)

Thank you all!

Both puppies are currently still hospitalized, but both have shown improvement. We learned that Murphy was also diagnosed with Parvo today - but we caught it early on, so the vet is confident that he will continue to improve.

Both of their temperatures have dropped, both have eaten and perked up a little bit.  We still have a long way to go before they can be released and use outpatient treatment, but their improvement in just a few hours has given us much to be thankful and excited about.  We are anticipating that with continued medical care, they will continue to improve.

Please continue to share their story so that we can continue to afford their treatments.  Thank you!
