Monday, October 29th, 2013, The Mount Vernon Community has lost a much loved family. A Family who was started in the Dominican Republic, moved to Mount Vernon near the Bronx-Westchester border two years ago for a better life. A blaze, which started shortly after 3 a.m. at 11 South Bond Street in Mount Vernon, took their hopes and dreams away. Alcedo Urena, in his 50s, his wife Nancy, 39, and their children, Jesus, 21, and Mariselis, 18 lost their lives in this horrible event. Fortunately their youngest son Raymundo Ureña was able to escape the flames and survive. We are asking that we ALL please help the Urena Family in this time of grieve. We will be hosting an event to for the Urena family on November 1st, 2013 for those who want to help out with funeral expenses. This event will be held at the Dominican Club, 9 North Bond Street Mount Vernon, NY 10550. The Time will be from 7PM to 10PM. If you cant make it please leave a donation here.
