The event is growing near and we have been overwhelmed with the number of donated items. This is great and really appreciate all the love and thoughtful items people have donated, thank you.
We are closing in on $12,000, which is unbelievable. We have also received over $2500 in checks and hope that the fundraiser can do even better. Wow, this is amazing! Thank you all so much. Lets keep it up and push this for Shane.
Update on Shane:
Currently he is still about the same. Physically he is doing a lot better, which that was never a concern because we all know how strong he is physically. Mentally however is still an issue. He longterm memory is improving and he remembers things from the past but he still cant piece everything together. Short-term memory is day to day along with his congnitive skills. We are hoping soon that he is able to understand why he is there and to what extent. Once this happens we are crossing our fingers that we can take him home. There is still no timeline on how much longer he will be in the hospital but we are praying that we can hurry up and take him home. That being said Im sorry to all but Shane will not be able to attend the fundraiser. We would love for him to be there but he cant leave the hopsital and the whole situation would just be overwhelming for him.

Kellen WiseOur son is coming home on Wednesday.It has been a very long and stressful time for Shane as well as his family and friends. These last three weeks at Craig were filled with testing of cognitive and motors skills. We are so pleased he has done well. But it cannot go without commenting on the passionate care that Dr. Blei from Denver Health provided Shane. The first 4-6 weeks in the Denver Health rehab area was EXTREMELY trying, but Dr. Blei encouraged Shane and helped the rest of us with the struggle.
Shane remains on medication for both the brain injury and a large blood clot behind his knee that he developed while in the hospital. The clot is being closely monitored and will continue to be treated for 3-6 months; it has not grown since the initial discovery due to the thorough and quick acting staff at Craig. On a good note he was able to play nine holes of golf yesterday. Albeit, he wasn't pleased with his performance...but he's pretty hard on himself.
After his release from Craig inpatient he will continue with outpatient care three days a week. At this time we do not know how long this will last. However, we all know Shane is a fighter and he will be back to the Shane we all know and love with the help and support of all of you.
I have to admit that neither Mike nor I have chosen to visit this website until now. It has been just that difficult. We can't begin to express our sincere gratitude for everyone's thoughts and generosity; it is truly wonderful that he has experienced such an outpouring of emotions at this horrible accident. Shane is overwhelmed by the kindness that all of his family, friends and evern strangers have demonstrated. He can't quite express his feelings knowing such kind and caring people.

Hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to provide an update on Shane and give more information about the fundraiser.
The fundraiser is this Saturday, June 30th at Mullen High School, from 2pm-5pm. The fundraiser is not a formal event. The event is more like an “open house”. It is going to be a casual setting, wear whatever is comfortable, probably shorts given the heat wave we have been having. There is a time frame but you can show up whenever and leave whenever between 2 and 5. The auction will be closed around 4:35, that will give us time to go through all the lists. You do not have to stick around until the end to collect your items if you are the winning bid. The lists will ask for all of your information that way we can call you and inform you of the winning bid if yo...u leave before the end of the fundraiser. There are many items so closing the auction will be hard work for everyone involved. When you first get to Mullen, there will be a sign of where to park. There will be a table to pay for the food, which is served more as buffet style, serve yourselves. There will also be a table with card boxes if you want to give Shane or Ryan cards, and also a separate donation box. We will also, provide computers to make a donation on our fundraising site if you want. All of the auction items will be displayed on tables with a bid list in front of the item. Please don’t be afraid to ask if you have any questions.
Shane: Not too much to report on except he is improving. Physically he is still doing great. Mentally he is still getting confused and he is still experiencing a loss of memory, short and long. We did get good news yesterday, Shane was able to finally go outside for the first time in a month n half. Hopefully he will be able to continue that everyday until he is released from the hospital. Everything is still day to day but he is slowly improving.
We thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts for all of the love and support. We are closing in on $20,000 already raised for Shane, which is unbelievable. At the fundraiser I will try and get up and say a few words, and provide an update on Shane as well. I look forward to seeing all that can attend on Saturday.

Angie's is a local family owned Italian and Mexican Restaurant. Come in for lunch, dinner or order take out and if you mention Shane and Ryan, they will donate 20% of your bill! You can even bring in your own pot and they will fill it with spaghetti and meatballs!

Update on Shane:
We do not have too much to report on. The past two weeks, although he is improving and actually doing therapy several hours a day, his progress has been slow. He still doesnt realize what happened or why he is in the hospital but he is improving. From here on out it will be day to day but to anyone that knows Shane he strives hard to be the best at everything, so this will not be different.

I would like to provide an update on Shane and thank everyone.
We have received an unbelievable amount of support from friends and family. It is amazing to know how many lifes Shane and Ryan have touched through the years. We are all so grateful to have such caring and loving people to huddle around Shane and Ryan!
Currently, Ryan is recovery and started back to work although finds himself struggling at times with memory and he recently had mouth surgery to replace several cracked teeth!
Shane is still in the hospital and will be for a unknown period of time. He has began to eat and walk on his own. On Tuesday we saw his first smile which was a relief to see. However, his cognative and memory skills have yet to come around. He speaks but everything he says is pretty foggy! He can remember names, faces, and random facts but he has almost zero short term memory. He also suffers from sleep deprivation and aggitation. He is still day to day and hope that this week he will improve his cognative skills and able to start doing a harder physical therapy schedule because we all know how much he loves to workout. He realizes hes in a hospital but wants to leave. He doesnt know why he is there or the extent of his injuries.
I would also ask at this time that he has no visitors or to refrain from texting or calling him. Although he can answer and see visitors, he gets really flustered and thinks you are there to pick him up and take him home, which obviously he is not ready to leave yet. Thank you very much, we appreciate all of the support and please stay tune for an update and look forward to seeing a lot of you on June 30th.
