Dear Andrea, Our family met Rusty once when he kindly mentored my son Perry Chen (10 years old then) on using Toon Boom Studio animation software in 2010, to help me get started on making his first animation film "Ingrid Pitt: Beyond the Forest." We so appreciate his kind support to a young animator, and listed his name in the film's end credit. Last July , my husband Changyou passed away from terminal skin cancer, and I learned about Rusty's cancer earlier, and emailed/called him about various cancer treatment. I lost my mom before last Christmas, and haven't been in touch with Rusty in a while. So sorry to learn of your loss. Hope you and your son will stay strong and carry on Rusty's legacy. Not just an incredibly talented, but a wonderful Dad. Rusty always put his family first. The world is a little dimmer place without him. We were blessed to know him, and will always miss him.

I know this is late, but the family could use it. My best wishes to you; this man has given many a childhood memory they will always smile to.

I didn't know Rusty myself, but I certainly know a lot of people who did and who are saddened by his passing. I'm sorry for your loss, and all my best to you as you deal with this difficult time.

Rusty, 9 months ago a fundraiser was held for me. It helped a lot. I am still struggling but I wanted to give something to you. I pray that you will focus on your family and how much love there is and do not think about the power bill or presents under the tree or if the chemo is working. God is in charge and you don't have to worry and HE doesn't want you to worry. I am Stage IV too and God has us both in his hands.

You have done so much for me, thank you and I am sending my prayers.

My dear friend AJ Moore has told me a lot about Rusty and all he has taught and shared with him for years... he is very fond of him and so much of his art is influenced by Rusty's style and technique. I also lost my Dad to Colon Cancer 6 years ago. My heart goes out to you; I know I cannot take away the pain, but I can truly say that I understand.
