**update, Tuesday morning Marlene left us here to be with Jesus. One old hymn could not be more fitting for Marlene as we know she is rejoicing. "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing it will be! When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!"
26 years ago Marlene Ripley underwent a surgery that was suppose to diagnose why she was unable to conceive children. She went into surgery hopeful that she would come out able to have children, but when she came out she was soon to discover that they had performed a complete hysterectomy and discovered that she had ovarian cancer. She began treatments, chemotherapy and a round of radiation for "good measure" . Even with the pain of learning that she could not have children biologically and that she had cancer she was give the greatest blessing. Marlene and Randy were able to adopt their son Matthew. They were able to rescue an potential orphan and give him is forever home. It is clear that God was working through all of this and Matthew was supposed to be theirs! God cured her of her cancer and she remained cancer free until 3 years ago. Ovarian cancer had returned. She has been through a series of very expensive and tough medical treatments to try to kick cancer this time around, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation all with no medical insurance. The cancer is aggressive, the tumor inoperable, but it did stop growing for a period. In September of 2013 she returned to her oncologist after some complications and was given the most devastating news possible. He had no more medical options for her, no surgeries or treatments , and the tumor was growing and aggressive. She has sought some medical care from a non conventional doctor and he is giving her some alternative treatments in hopes of shrinking the tumor. Through this Marlene's faith is as big as ever. She knows God is the ultimate healer! She has impacted so many lives and now it is our turn to help her. First by prayer...
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12
"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
... but also in generous giving! Doctors bills, medicine and other expenses will quickly add up especially now that Marlene is unable to work. They do not have insurance so every expense is out of pocket and that can be a terrible burden on the entire family.
"Carry each other?rsquo;s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2 -
