I am writing to you to ask for your assistance for the Hernandez family.

As a mother myself, it was with deep sadness when I learned that my dear friend was facing an unimaginable reality when her 12 year old daughter was urgently admitted to the hospital several weeks ago. Julissa is only 12 years old and was complaining of gastritis symptoms.  After seemingly endless exams, 3 biopsies and 25 days in the hospital Julissa was diagnosed with cardiac sarcoma; a rare malignant tumor in the heart.  This illness most often occurs in young adults and is not commonly found in young children like Julissa.

Julissa will begin inpatient chemotherapy on Friday, February 8thwhich will hopefully shrink the tumor in preparation for open heart surgery to remove the cancerous tumor.

Young Julissa has two little sisters, Lilly (10) and Abby (3).  Their mother, Ana (38), is a single mother struggling to keep her family together and hope alive.  Although consumed with indescribable pain and fear, Ana is struggling to be strong for her family, keep her employment for insurance purposes, manage the daily function of her household and be a mother to two other children who really need her.

For Ana, this is a true test of being a mother.  I am asking for donations to help the Hernandez family with all the medical bills that will be incurred. Any financial help you can offer will be most gratefully appreciated. Most importantly, I am also asking that you remember the Hernandez family in your prayers to give them strength and that they may take comfort in the loving arms of God around them.

Julissa underwent surgery in July 18th to remove as much as the tumor as possible. She had many supporters by her side to help her get through this tough surgery. Surgery went well and they were able to remove 99% of the tumor. She is recovering very fast and all the doctors are amazed on how well she has taken this procedure. I want to thank ALL of her supporters who are sending prayer and positive energy. Julissa is a fighter and will continue her fight into the next stage of her recovery, as she says she is going to kick cancers butt. a benefit will be held today in her name at Midwest Orthopedics in Westchester, hosted by Mom's (Ana) employer. Unfortunately Julissa will not be able to attend as she is recovering nicely at Advicate Christ hospital. Ana has done an amazing job being by julssa's side and giving her the guidance to continue to fight. Please continue to share her battle. The family can't thank everyone enough for all your support.

To all of Julissa's supporters,

She has completed her second chemo treatment on March 4th and is home recovering, the Hernandez family is very grateful for all you have done not to mention the incredible support that they experienced on February 23rd at a benefit in Julissa's name, it was amazing the amount of supporters that came out, Julissa was able to make a short appearance and encouraged the crowd to purchase raffle tickets. Michael Acevedo, the organizer of this event was amazing, he deserves a medal for all he did for the family. As we move forward please continue to pray for her and the family.

Julissa has finished her first chapter of Chemo, is home resting, she will return to the hospital every 21 days for chemo, in between treatments they will monitor to see if the tumor is shrinking. Lets keep Juilissa and her family in prayer to assure chemo (pepe) is doing its job. Pepe = We decided to name the Chemo bag which put a smile on her face so when she is in the hospital she will be with Bob and Pepe. lets keep a smile on her beautiful face. Thank you ALL who have donated as we continue Julissa's Medical Journey.
