Our little princess, Jade Marr, was flown by ALERT airplane to the Seattle Children's Hospital on September 15, 2012 for further testing to define a diagnosis on tumors that were found on the bone of her skull and a mass over the adrenal gland. After further testing and undergoing three surgical procedures, including a biopsy of the mass, a bone marrow biopsy, and placing a central IV line, the do
ctors confirmed Jade's diagnosis as advanced or high risk neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a form of childhood cancer that has to do with the nerve cells.
It is present in a large mass on her adrenal gland, on the bone of her skull, and on larger bones throughout her little body. It was also found that Jade has the myc gene that, when present, causes a rapid growth of the cancer cells and makes the patient high risk.
Treatment will be very aggressive, which started on September 21, 2012, with the first round of chemotherapy. The adrenal gland is the main tumor that all others "stem" from and will later attempt to be removed by surgery.
This diagnosis is indeed a very hard one. But the bigger the problem, the greater the miracle. And we know our God is bigger than any cancer and cares for our little princess. The road ahead will be long, trying, and very difficult.
We have felt the support of all the prayers we know are being said and continue to rest in the Lord. We will not give up hope. Our God is greater, our God is stronger...our God is healer, awesome and power, our God.
