Before our eyes, a little dog went from death's door, to wagging his tail and bringing joy wherever he goes.  Hit by a car, left in the road to die, lonely, scared and in pain.  A kind lady stopped, thinking she was moving a body out of the road to avoid mutilation, when he raised his head.  He was rushed for treatment, given the best of care, went through surgery and lots of medical care, and people lined up to help pay the bill.   He is recuperating, he wags his tail and bounces around, and will be good as new very soon.  He is a little miracle.

I just had a very nice visit with Trooper, and Marley (& family).  Trooper is the little dog who was hit by a car on June 2nd, and left in the road to die. Marley is the lady who stopped and saved his life.   He has gone through a lot to include surgery, but he is doing absolutely GREAT.  His tail wags so fast it is a blur.  He is polite and well behaved and SO cute.  He is trying to run and do everything, the vets say he should be careful another month or so, but he is making a fantastic recovery.  We were able to raise all of the funding needed to get him through surgery and treatment.

Thank you again to everyone who shared his information or helped in some way.  Church Of The Angels will be sending you a final note and update to donors.

I am adding a couple of new pictures, and folks can check back here for any updates, the link is good for about 6 months.

I am updating this page and since I am going to update the "front page", I will paste here what it said.

His posting information said "FOUND DOG: Terrier Mix on Patton near Toftoy. 15-20 lb, friendly, neutered, no collar, no microchip. Hit by a car this morning and taken to Animal Emergency Clinic.  Please share. He has a chance if his owners can get down there."  This is in Huntsville Alabama.

One lady stopped.  She blocked traffic but some construction workers stopped to help, and she rescued a bloody, broken, hurting dog left to die in the road, taking him to get help.  Someone had run over him and kept going.  Amazing efforts to save him followed, from the vets, to people spreading the word, people donating to help, to construction workers who worked in rescue mode, and mostly to the one lady who stopped.  And a life is being saved.

We are trying to raise funds so that he can continue to get the medical attention he needs.

He is NOT in need of foster care or adoption at this point, however he will still need help with funding.  Thanks to many people stepping up to help, he was given the emergency medical treatment he needed.  He has since moved from the ER clinic, to the animal hospital, to days in the hospital and nights at the home of the lady who found him and took him to get help, and now loves him.  He is receiving excellent care.  He has some broken bones to include a broken pelvis, which has required surgery. He is receiving pain medications and has been resting as best he can.  The estimate for the surgery is approximately $1500, to include his normal aftercare if there are no problems. This is in addition to the nearly $2000 from his Emergency Animal Hospital care and his care and treatments at the Animal Hospital.  Please consider a donation to help him.

Trooper continues to recuperate nicely.  He is much more active, trying to do more, getting stronger.  Everything is healing well, the next step for him is suture removal, planned for this weekend.

No new photos to post but I will share as I get them.

Update from Marley:  "He is doing super good. He's been hanging out with Will today (: He goes in Saturday for suture removal. He's just doing really great!"

Thank you for caring about this little guy, and for continuing to care.  He is special.  His story sure brought a lot of people together.  What a little Trooper.

Look at this lazy boy. He has taken a liking to Marley's husband who he's cuddling with in the photo just posted. You can see some road rash on his chin. He has raw spots and scabs all over his body where he got tumbled on the road. He is really making progress on his walking.

Hard to believe where we were just a week ago, isn't it??  He really IS such a trooper.

Thank you to everyone who has had a part in helping this dog.  It matters.

Today he is progressing amazingly well. He used the bathroom outside last night for the first time this week. This morning he starts rehab at home and strengthening his movement by swimming in the bathtub. He's been (understandably) really tired and has been sleeping a lot.  Trooper's next visit to the vet should be late next week to get his sutures removed.

Thank you for the continued interest and concern about little Trooper.  His story has become inspirational, and he is mending and recuperating nicely.

People referring to this page for the first time might notice the updates  mentioning "Cillian" in the first days after he was hurt.  I have no option to edit any update, so I left them there so others could see the progression of his story.  That name didn't fit him, he responded to Trooper, it was a temporary name suggested by a fan of his,  so Trooper he is.  I apologize for any confusion.  He is improving daily.

It is heartwarming to see people come together to help one small animal.  When you believe in helping animals, you often witness the negative.  This time, we made a difference in saving a life.  Thank you to each one of you who has helped in any way, from prayers to sharing his information to donating.

Trooper (his permanent name) is doing remarkably better.  He wants to stand and try to walk, and his tail is wagging.  I just uploaded 3 new pictures, the cuteness just pours out of the photo.  He is already loved by so many people, it is heartwarming.  Marley, his guardian angel, has made him part of her family.

There is still a bit more money needed before his medical bills will be covered, but he is a little miracle!  Thank you for helping save his life.

Trooper is doing really well!  He got an excellent report from the vet.  He's wanting to start getting on his feet already! He goes back for day care tomorrow then they think he'll be ok for just a follow up visits. It touched my heart when I was reviewing the receipts and charges, and saw a note on his records that said "today he stood, and he wagged his tail".  He REALLY is a Trooper, and that is what everyone who loves him is now calling him because he responds to it.

I just uploaded 2 photos post surgery from today.  Click on them.  Look at his poor pitiful but grateful eyes.  This poor broken baby has gone through so much, yet he wagged his tail today!

While Marley, his mother now, has gone above and beyond to do the right thing and make sure he is well taken care of, many many people have stepped up to help with the bills.  I personally thank each and every one of you.  There was a little girl who sent in her piggy bank money.  Another little boy who is going to try a lemonade stand to raise money.  Many people sent a donation in memory of or in honor of their own beloved pet(s).  MANY people who cared.  And helped.

We are grateful for every penny received, however there are more bills to cover, and we respectfully continue to ask for donations to help with those.

Periodically, I have been uploading photos, so we now have a small photo gallery you can click on and scroll through.

I just added one that is difficult to look at, but it shows his condition on day 1.  It was taken around the same time as the photo on the front page.  He aleady looks better.  We hope to post more photos soon.

Thank you ALL for caring.

Earlier this morning:  He rested comfortably and quietly through the night. He is banged up and bruised in his abdomen area. He was pretty bright eyed and alert this morning. He'll be at the animal hospital for the day.

Most recent report from the vet:  He is progressing very well and is eager to start moving. He's very bright eyed today :)

Thank you for caring.  Thank you for each and every donation to help this little trooper.  He is receiving the BEST of care.  We still have bills yet to come in, so we truly need to meet our estimated goal, but maybe we can actually join together and truly save a life.  Please consider a donation.

We are grateful for every donation received.  Whether it was $5 or more, every penny is appreciated.  His treatment to date has cost nearly $2000, I have seen the itemized receipts.  That doesn't count the cost of today's surgery.  We've not yet gotten the bill from the surgeon herself, only the estimate, however more help is needed to cover his medical care.

Please continue to share his donation information.  All of you are helping to make a difference!  This could have been a tragic story, instead it is becoming a story about people coming together to help one defenseless animal who was left to die - until - until folks lined up to help.

Our little Trooper had his surgery today.  Thank you for all of the inquiries about his status.  He went through the surgery perfectly, with no complications.  He is now in recovery mode.  He must be kept immobile initially, so he is comfortably packed in his bed.  Pain medications have been given, and he is resting.  He is still taking other medications, and is also getting fluids.  He currently has a catheter which is being monitored, and he is getting round the clock attention.  He will go back to the Animal Hospital tomorrow where they will monitor his situation.

The verdict is in from the radiologist and doctors.  Although the dog has several breaks and injuries, one of them must be corrected by surgery.  He is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.  The preliminary estimate for the surgery alone is approximately $1500.00.  The funding that has already been received prior to this update has been applied to his ER treatment and the treatment each day at the Animal Hospital, so we really need to share his information and beg for more donations to cover the surgery.  All records and receipts have been submitted and verified.  Please continue to share the link for this donation page with your friends, family, co-workers, etc.  If you have already donated, we thank you.  If you were thinking about it, please do.  Please ask anyone you think might be interested in helping to donate, and share the link, so that we CAN cover the surgery he needs.

The clinic has asked that folks stop calling them to discuss the dog, they will no longer release information to anyone except the one person on record who first rescued the dog, who has custody and care of him, and who has been paying each bill.  They are a busy animal hospital, with other animals to tend to, and staff wants to be taking care of them all, not stuck on the phone.  If you want updates on how he is doing, please refer to this page, I will continue to post updates as they come in.

We don't want to lose focus on what we are trying to do, which is help this little guy get the medical care he truly needs.  He is in pain, even with pain meds you can tell that he is hurting, and the doctors have agreed that it is best to do his surgery sooner rather than later, there is a risk of the damaged area fusing incorrectly otherwise.  Some of the breaks can heal without adjustment, but the concern about the broken pelvis area at his hipbone is why he needs the surgery.  The estimate given also includes his medical aftercare.  He is not a resident at the hospital now, he is going home nights with Marley, the lady who physically rescued him.  She is giving him excellent care while he is recuperating, and should his original owner not be located, he will continue to stay with her while he mends.

Thank you for caring about this fella, and thank you for continuing to spread the word about his needs and how others can help.

Cillian was able to leave the Animal Hospital, to spend the night with the lady who first found him and took him to the vet.  He has to go back to the Animal Hospital Tuesday, but tonight he is resting peacefully.  More updates as they happen.

Cillian is still in a bit of pain, but is on IV meds until at least tomorrow. We are waiting for a radiologist to examine his xrays to determine the extent of his fracture. They did say that there was no bladder damage and no signs of any internal injuries!! He has a bit of blood in his urine, but he is at least peeing.  Let's hear it for our little warrior!!!
