Susan Murphy-Milano has been diagnosed with cancer, stage IV with no health insurance and no savings. In the care of a wonderful doctor and her staff, Dr. Dalal Akoury, she is fully intending to make it through this, especially with the help of her caring friends.
Since the murder of her mother by her father in 1989, she has been an unpaid advocate for battered women, often giving them her own money on which to survive. "I'm all on my own. I get paid by writing speeches, doing fund-raising, consulting, writing articles. It's pretty hand-to-mouth. . . . I keep waiting for someone to come and say, 'We'll hire you.'" But none of the agencies seemed interested.(Chicago Sun-Times 1993)
Susan Murphy Milano is a specialist and expert in intimate partner violence and works nationally with corporations, faith based organizations, domestic violence programs, law enforcement and prosecutors providing technical and consulting services in “high risk” domestic violence and stalking related cases, most of the time at no charge to the victims. Her principal objective is to intervene before a victim is seriously injured or killed. Utilizing a procedure which she devised, The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit,© Murphy Milano’s clients are all still alive--a statistic that is remarkable considering the distinct increase in intimate partner homicides.
She wanted to continue to do the things she loves best, her radio shows, blogging, writing, and especially promoting the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and the site, Document the Abuse.Com for the benefit of abuse victims, but her energy levels have prohibited her from continuing at this time.
This site is taking donations for Susan during her current health challenge. If you are able and want to help, she’d appreciate your love, healing light and visualizations, support, and donations.
With no insurance coverage Susan's medical bills are piling up and every dollar helps.
Although our fund raising efforts are now concentrated towards Susan's immediate health crisis, when this crisis passes and she is fully back in the saddle, any excess funds will go towards a foundation that will assist future qualified patients without adequate healthcare to receive treatment.
