While coming back home from a doctor's appointment with her older sister, 17 year old Anna and her sister, Janie, were hit unexpectedly by a drunk driver who failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver ran into the minivan going in excess of 60 miles per hour nearly ripping the mini-van in two.
Janie and Anna were flown by medical helicopter to the hospital where Janie, a 27 year old mother of three died. Anna was on life support with a broken pelvis, multiple broken ribs, internal injuries and brain trauma.
Like most middle class, American families, Anna's parents both work. Her mother is a teacher at a local Christian school and her father does IT work. Unfortunately, her father's temporary job does not have benefits; and a sluggish economy has caused her mother's teaching contract at the Christian school, to not be renewed.
While they have car insurance, the benefits will not come close to covering the cost for Anna's life flight, hospital and rehab bills.
Anna loves horses and has been taking riding lessons for eight years. A couple of years ago her father lost his long term IT job due to downsizing, so Anna started cleaning out horse stalls in exchange for her lessons.
While working for her lessons, Anna soon started volunteering to help riders who were less fortunate or suffered from other disabilities. Anna worked with these children through horse therapy offered at her riding stable.
This is one of the many reasons we want to get Anna -
BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!!!
Any amount would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Please remember this family in your thoughts and prayers as they have lost one daughter and are thankful for the life of their other.
Thank you for your contribution! God bless! <><
